Annual Fundraising for Park Foundations, Friends Groups, and Conservancies: Creating Impact: How Park Foundations Support and Serve Communities In this section, I want you to provide specific examples of how your park foundation has addressed and will continue to address problems and challenges, as well as meet the unmet needs of local residents by being a strategic partner to the public agency. This can include details about the programs offered, services provided for people in need, and how the Park Foundation assists the public lands and recreation agency. https://lnkd.in/gKPp3Mft There may be some overlap between the roles of the Parks Foundation and the Parks and Recreation Department, or the Public Lands and Recreation Agency. Just do your best to differentiate, and spend some time with me during virtual office hours so I can help you with this. #ParkFoundation #PublicAgencySupport #CommunityPrograms #RecreationServices #StrategicPartnership #PublicLands #CommunityNeeds #NonprofitSupport #LocalResidents #RecreationAgency #VirtualOfficeHours

Public lands are a public good, but they are not being used for the public good. The City is selling, leasing, or redeveloping them without consulting the communities that use them. This can result in the loss of affordable nonprofit community space, and the increase of community demands. We need the City to implement three recommendations that will help address the space crisis. The third recommendation is to ensure a process for community consultations/community space needs before selling, leasing, or redeveloping publicly-owned lands. This includes creating an impact report on the expansion or loss of affordable nonprofit community space, and associated community demands. We need your help to make this happen. New Report from UK Community Foundations. Just before Christmas we published ‘Philanthropy 2023’, a network-wide impact report that looks at the impact of place-based philanthropy in the UK. In 2023, we have seen a drive from donors to reduce social inequity and build community resilience. In the report, we share some of the work from our 2022-2023 partnerships and events, while looking ahead at the future potential of place-based philanthropy in improving social equity. To summarise: A new report from UK Community Foundations shows the determination of communities to prevail through tough times have not faded. UK donors and communities are determined to drive philanthropy forwards to tackle the root causes of social inequity and climate change in the face of today’s financial turmoil, according to a new report published by UKCF. · Community foundations in the UKCF network collectively cover every postcode in the UK. · Between April 2022 and March 2023, community foundations worked with national and regional partners to distribute over £170.6 million in the form of 40,804 grants to charities and voluntary organisations throughout the UK. · Tackling the root causes of social inequity has been a key focus of local funding, collaborating with donors and communities alike to support grassroots resilience. · Over £811 million is being managed by the UKCF network in community-focused endowments, being invested by communities for communities. This has risen by 14% since 2020, showing a drive for more sustainable support at a local level. · Climate change is affecting UK communities in inequal measures. Philanthropic collaboration with community foundations is supporting diverse communities on a national scale to adapt to the inevitable impacts of an increase in global temperature. You can find the full report here. https://lnkd.in/ejCrN55n #philanthropy #communityfoundations # Best wishes, Rosemary

HomeClub looks at hundreds of articles every day. We choose the best ones to share with our readers. This gives you a quick look at what's happening in the home improvement industry. The article below is one we picked. Community revitalization efforts can have a profound impact on local residents, fostering a sense of belonging and improving quality of life. Lowe's Foundation Hometowns program exemplifies this by awarding $10 million in grants to 100 nonprofits across the United States, as reported by Lowe's Companies, Inc.'s newsroom. These grants will fund diverse projects, from building tiny homes for veterans in South Dakota to creating a community garden in Detroit. By supporting initiatives that address specific local needs, Lowe's is not only improving physical spaces but also strengthening community bonds and providing essential services to vulnerable populations. This commitment to community development demonstrates the power of corporate social responsibility in creating lasting positive change. These are the kinds of projects that make it all the long days and early mornings worth it. Bouthillette Parizeau Cleland Jardine Engineering (Now BPA) #ImpactfulEngineering
Today was a very special day. Ten and a half years later we were able to celebrate the opening of Dave’s Dream. The Dave Smith Youth Treatment Centre had a beautiful ribbon cutting/opening today. Everyone’s word and appreciation of not only the building but what it represents for youth in our community was amazing. I have so much pride in this project, the team we worked with ( Lesley Watson Mike Watson ) our consultant (BPA, CJE, Novatech) amazing clients ( Kevin Crawford and Mike Beauchesne and construction team at Laurin construction. It is bittersweet to see this all wrap up but we can wait for everyone to move in and continue to make a difference. The fundraising campaign “Village of Hope” is still ongoing. Please reach out to Cindy Manor to see how you can help. #dsytc #davesdream #youthtreatmentcentre #community #ottawa #ottawaarchitects #ruralsite #villageofhope #mentalhealthmatters #grandopening Project photos to follow soon. https://lnkd.in/eKj7qX_W
