Unsurprisingly, schools want more funding from a #newgovernment - which is a complex issue in itself. Even more difficult to solve though is the #recruitment and retention of teachers - the next most important issue schools identified that they wanted a new government to address in a recent NFER survey as reported by Tes and EyeOnLondon (https://lnkd.in/ejspyrTV). Some integrated and innovative thinking about how we recruit teachers, how we expect them to work and how we support them is needed. And then of course some action. Improving teacher quantity and quality will improve outcomes for learners and over time, has the potential to do more #levellingup than has been achieved through the billions of pounds invested in this #governmentpolicy to date. I hope a new government will take a long term approach to their support of schools. #teachersuccess #TSP #educationmatters

UK Government Abolishes One-Word Ofsted Judgments The UK government has taken a significant step towards reforming the educational landscape by scrapping the one-word Ofsted judgments for state schools. This change marks a shift from simplistic evaluations to a more comprehensive assessment system, aiming to provide a clearer picture of school performance. The reform has been driven by the need to address the shortcomings of the previous system, which often placed undue pressure on educators and failed to capture the complexities of school environments. https://zurl.co/HLVR #OfstedReform #UKEducation #SchoolAssessments #EducationPolicy #TeachingAndLearning #SchoolImprovement #EducationReform #EducationNews #UKGovernment #EducationPolicy #UK

New American School District Panel survey: 83% of districts added staff in the 2023–2024 school year to assist with academic recovery. Nationally, a quarter of districts anticipated revenue drops in the 2024–2025 and 2025–2026 school years. Four in ten high-poverty districts anticipated cuts in the 2025–2026 school year after the expiration of COVID-19 federal aid. Reducing teachers was the most common budget cut that districts anticipated.
