The National Building Museum has launched "Future Cities", an ambitious, three year program to explore the potential solutions to housing affordability, commercial vacancy, safety, and vibrancy. Watch out for upcoming programs which will look at how our cities have evolved and will continue to evolve through economic and social transitions. Rooted Communities is proud to sponsor these programs alongside AARP and work closely with adjunct curators Andrew Trueblood and Uwe S. Brandes. #futurecitiesNBM #adaptivereuse #downtown #vibrancy
Earlier this month Aileen Fuchs invited design leaders to engage in conversation at a “Livability & Design”- themed lunch as part of our #FutureCitiesNBM Initiative. Downtowns across America are challenged by commercial vacancies, housing shortages, public safety issues and more. How are we reinventing cities to meet these challenges? We addressed this question and many more and (spoiler alert for “Coming Together” - our upcoming exhibition on the topic of Downtowns) we found opportunities for OPTIMISM. What are you feeling about the future of our cities?
