What is hypnobirthing? When comparing NCT or hospital-led antenatal classes vs a hypnobirthing course, the main difference - even though much of the content overlaps - is the angle in which the information is passed to the parents-to-be. NCT and hospital-led antenatal classes are factually-based classes, where they present the information to expectant parents so that they have an understanding of terminology and the birth process. A hypnobirthing course, will provide similar information but then teaches and empowers the couple to understand what it means and what impact it could have. Why? So that they can plan for the birth that best suits them and their baby. A hypnobirthing course gives couples the confidence to understand the nuances and express their preferences with their caregivers to achieve the birth that is right for them, whatever that may look like.
