Today our panel discusses the upcoming New Hampshire primary and the mindset of the country as it relates to government expectations.

Building, not blocking... It's time to prioritise the needs of younger residents who urgently need both market and affordable housing across our cities, towns and villages. For far too long our broken planning system has given too much attention to objections and negativity around housebuilding from those that often are sat comfortably in their houses, which many under occupy and potentially purchased from Council's many moons ago - but don't appear keen to see newer generations afforded the same opportunities. Let's even the playing field! Housebuilding will unlock economic growth and support much needed infrastructure and ensure that land that was privately owned, through the delivery of high-quality public open space, can benefit residents across the country, promoting mental and physical well-being. And let's not forget, that it literally is an 'urban myth' that everything is being built on in this country. As at April 2022: only 8.7% of land in England was developed, with 91.1% non-developed and the remaining 0.2% being vacant. Let's get building and modernise our communities and give a voice to those that currently don't have one. Good to finally hear more statement of intent for the planning system reforms from Angela Raynor which is consistent with the recent themes from Labour. Particularly good to hear a bit more on how the definition of Grey Belt is shaping up. Continue to watch this space….. Summix

The Deputy PM is on a mission - and my sense is that local leaders will be expected to demonstrate that robust and holistic #publicestate #optimisation plans are in place to deliver core objectives, including more affordable homes. ‘Needs-led’ public estate #portfolioreviews will be key, spanning multiple asset classes - including “strategic urban regeneration sites”, “grey belt land” and “redundant car parks”. No doubt, all eyes will be on the #onepublicestate programme to deliver enhanced programmes of collaboration and transformation.
