If you had to guess, what would you say is the most powerful or important federal agency? If you said anything other than the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services then I would say you are wrong. Disagree? Beyond that, what are the differences in the missions of federal agencies, what does that mean for the data they collect and push out to the public, and how does understanding their missions and purviews help in understanding where to get good data for research? These are the topics of discussion.
Many folks who go to school for public policy or public health know these differences but many of us trained in the mathematical and data sciences often don't take such a class. This webinar is a condensed version of a workshop I have done on occasion and will attempt to provide that understanding.
