We're skidding into the final weeks of the year. Here's an update on my business: - Launching Ground Crew 006 for site contractors doing $2M-$15M/year. First meeting in North Carolina at the end of Jan. Incredible group, can't wait for it. One spot left. - Launching Ground Crew 007 for civil contractors doing $15M-$50M/year. First meeting in Mississippi in March. Again, blown away by the quality of people in this group. One spot left. - Hosting a 2-day workshop on Operationalizing Your Dirt Business in Phoenix, Feb 19-20 for site contractors doing $1M-$20M. Already half full and lots more interest. Doing another webinar next week on process-building. Five awesome sponsors helping make this event happen (more on them soon). - Launching Ground Crew 004 for commercial concrete contractors, first meeting in April in Fort Myers, FL. Two spots left. - Launching Ground Crew 005 for crushing and grinding contractors. First meeting in April. - Putting Ground Crew 008 together for civil contractors doing $50M+. I have several commits and will make it official before end of the year. Meeting in March/April. - Meetings with Groups 001 - 003 this winter/spring, as well as monthly calls and lots of one-on-ones. I was on the phone with someone today and he was asking how it's going, for real. Well, for real, every day I wake up so stoked to be right here, right now. Like I've found what I was cut out for. Still plenty of issues and stuff to work through, but man I would not trade this. Super thankful. If you want to get involved in any of the opportunities above, zip me a DM and we can chat. 📸: Kyle Guemmer and Joe Pfister halfway up Pike's Peak 🤝

The process of moving a house and keeping it structurally sound is complex. Whether you're considering moving a building for historic preservation, land use optimization, or zoning issues, you'll need specialists. Signe Kelly, the co-founder of Kelly Moving & Rigging, spoke to Kristi Waterworth of U.S. News & World Report about the complicated process of moving houses.

I will never forget where I was during the Grenfell tower fire. Today marks 7 years on from that tragic night. My thoughts are with everyone who lost their lives, the survivors and their families. 💚 💚 💚 I recommend the book "Show me the Bodies: How We Let Grenfell Happen" to anyone interested in reading about the failures of our construction industry and how we can prevent similar disasters from happening again. https://lnkd.in/eFYjatyA

I am reading/re-reading Pass It On (Billy Goldfeder & Friends), and a caption under the picture in Dave Dodson's piece stood out to me: "Post-fire site visits can help firefighters understand how the fire spread and how the building began to fail from fire and heat effects." In 25 years, re-visiting the incident building has never been part of my post-fire activities. I have done it as part of the investigation process (a couple times) or maybe as a small lesson, but never as a planned activity to learn from the site. Dodson discusses the value this type of visit can bring, not only for the firefighters that were on scene but also for others who were not there. It makes sense; we tour buildings under construction to learn about how they are built; it stands to reason to visit them to see how they failed during a fire. If you don't know the name, David Dodson is the guy behind The Art of Reading Smoke and more.

Today at 11am, The Grenfell Enquiry, published its final report into the fire at Grenfell which started on the 14th of June 2017, and killed 72 people. The report has found that significant dishonesty by multiple parties was a major root cause of a completely avoidable disaster. We welcome the publication of the report and will be reading through it, and digesting it over the next few days & weeks, to ensure our clients are well briefed on the implications of the report. Thouria Istephan’s summary on what is required moving forward should be a sober reminder and call to anyone involved in the construction industry to take responsibility for looking after their fellow humans. “We have found many failings of a wide range of institutions, organisations and individuals that spanned many years, which together led to the terrible fire at Grenfell Tower. They include many failures of the construction industry, my own industry, where I will focus my comments today. Our recommendations put responsibility and burdens on [specific] people in organisations. I make no apology for that. Put simply if you work in the construction industry and you do not feel the weight of responsibility for keeping people safe, you are in the wrong job.” You can watch the full release on YouTube. https://lnkd.in/eze_Xg7N
