The Contra Costa Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) will consider Seeno/Discovery Builders' 1,500-house Faria project on Wednesday, June 12. Please send a quick and easy email to remind LAFCO you want them to Save the Ridge! https://lnkd.in/edNT5DSA Faria would destroy part of the major ridgeline between Pittsburg and Concord. We want a 500-foot buffer along the western side of the project to reduce its visual and biological impacts on the ridge and on Thurgood Marshall Regional Park. We also want Seeno companies to provide more detailed information that would allow analyses of what would be visible and what would prevent drastic visual and biological impacts. FPS Early Careers Group (ECG) Visit to FTB Melton Mowbray... Melton Mowbray’s purpose build precast manufacturing facility recently (3rd December 2024) played host to the Federation of Piling Specialists (FPS) Early Careers Group (ECG), with attendance from Roger Bullivant, Bauer Equipment and Volker Ground Engineering. FTB is an unincorporated joint venture comprising of: Freyssinet Limited, Freyssinet International & Compagnie, Tierra Armada SA and, Roger Bullivant Limited. FTB has been appointed by BBV (Balfour Beatty Vinci) to manufacture and deliver precast and pre-stressed bridge elements (beams and props) for the N1 & N2 sections of the HS2 Project. Over the lifetime of the JV, a total of 3600 bridge elements will be manufactured at the site in Melton Mowbray, and shipped to site to form 75 critical structures across HS2. The site visit provided a thorough overview of the FTB joint venture, from inception of the JV, to getting the manufacturing facility out of the ground, through to sending the first precast pre-stressed concrete bridge beams out to site. NFPA 241 is one of the most impactful standards we work with...or at least it should be. Some great public inputs being discussed to get this revision cycle started.

How many #buildersrisk #inlandmarine #underwriters are asking their insureds whether complying with #NFPA241 is required in the municipality in which their construction project is based? This is a key part of preventing fires in buildings under construction. The NFPA process is open to outside input, once the first draft revisions are completed everyone will be able to provide specific feedback, suggest changes in verbiage, etc. on the proposed amendments. This is your opportunity to get involved in the process to make sure the code works for the insurance industry and based upon your experience/insights. Inland Marine Underwriters Association (IMUA)

As Dounreay is about to start several key construction projects, managers from the Reactors team took the opportunity to visit Chapelcross to see how construction work is managed at the site. They talked to personnel from within the construction office as well as site managers from the Chapelcross supply chain who are currently undertaking construction projects at the site as external principal contractors to hear directly about what works well. This knowledge exchange and sharing of best practice is a good example of how we can learn from each other across the NRS estate and maintain the same high standards when safely delivering construction work. #KnowledgeExchange #ConstructionBestPractices #NuclearConstruction
