Why choose #OccupationalTherapy as YOUR profession? Join #OccupationalTherapist Alejandro as he reflects on his journey: "I volunteered at a camp for children with special needs as a high school freshman. After a week of watching the camp counselors helping the campers adapt to their environment and provide an incredible experience, I asked what profession the counselors worked in. When I found out they were occupational therapy practitioners, I went home and began my research." Learn more about occupational therapy: https://ow.ly/hrV050TfIJF #OccupationalTherapy #WhyChooseOT

Our mixed-method research study was #justpublished in the Journal of Occupational Therapy Education. Collaborating with my colleague Jacqueline Achon, we explored the use of experiential simulation in higher education. This innovative approach allowed graduate occupational therapy students at University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences to experience the physical challenges of aging, fostering critical empathetic skills and better preparing them for clinical practice and fieldwork. #simulationinhighereducation #mixedmethod #highereducation #empathy #occupationaltherapy

OT Supervisor - (PG Cert Clinical supervision) - Independent Occupational Therapist - Children, Young People and Families - Extensive experience – Self-employed.
When do you reflect? Reflective practice is key in the therapeutic space. As an occupational therapist I use reflection all the time. - In the car between appointments - Writing my notes, reports, goal setting and evaluation - Feeding back to parents and schools How often do you reflect within supervision? Now I don’t mean just share a clinical case, or think about how to put some CPD into practice. Here are some ways you can dive deeper into your reflective practice. - Use a technique for reflection or a model of reflective practice? - Look at it from the service users perspective? - Explore if you’d make changes should you face a similar situation again? - What would those changes look like? - Do you revisit challenging situations weeks or a month after they have passed? Would your perspective have changed? Give it a go. If this is helpful, save this for later and share with someone else who might use this in their practice. #reflectivepractice #OTsupervision #occupationaltherapy #schoolbasedOT #independentOT
