"When you’re at the tail end of a long European vacation and your credit card is flirting with its limit… 🫣 Every swipe feels like a high-stakes game of ‘Will it go through?’ 🙈 Here's to hoping my love for coffee and souvenirs doesn't push me into the dreaded 'card declined' territory. Maybe it's time for a new travel rewards card? 🤔💳✈️ Pro tip for fellow travellers: 1. Always let your bank know you're traveling—nobody wants a card freeze while buying Eiffel Tower fridge magnets! 🗼 2. Use cards with no foreign transaction fees (because paying extra for that cappuccino just hurts).☕️ 3. Keep an eye on your spending and set alerts for unusual charges—better safe than sorry! 🚨 4. Always have a backup plan for just in case you reach your limit or the card gets stolen. Get a second credit card, or arrange access to your bank account to withdraw cash. 💶 Ready to travel smarter and stress less on your next adventure? Let's chat! Many people leverage their credit cards to pay bills and earn major rewards like flight and hotel points. However, the fees that come with credit card payments may actually be more costly in the long run than the rewards are beneficial so it's important to do the math on both before making any decisions. When considering paying large bills on a credit card, be sure to consider the following: -Are the credit card processing fees higher than the value of your cash back or travel rewards? -What's your break-even on fees vs rewards for the cards you have? -Are there other non-monetary perks that make using your card worthwhile? Think airport lounge access, free baggage or other travel upgrades. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eV89PiRE #nationalfinancialawarenessday #personalfinance #creditcard #rewards #financialplanning

I was badly let down by GWR this morning at 0230, telling me that due to staffing shortages the train from Bath to Heathrow was cancelled. I hurriedly looked for alternatives and found the National Express. I have to say, I had some reservations, having not used it since the 80s as a student… It was unbelievable!!! Clean, economical and got me to Heathrow Terminal 3 from Bath faster than I could have done it by train (had it even been running). This service is absolutely first class, and I won’t be taking the train for this journey again. It was about 1/3rd of the price, I was guaranteed a seat, and it had adequate space for luggage. And a fantastic driver who understood the concept of customer service!
