Earlier this week at the British Embassy Washington we proudly celebrated the #LGBTQ+ community alongside British Ambassador Dame Karen Pierce, New Zealand Ambassador Rosemary Banks, and our Chief #DEI Officer, Natalie Edwards 🏳️🌈🎉. Our Pride employee resource group was also represented at the event. We commend their dedication to supporting our LGBTQ+ communities, resulting in: ✨ Over 50 volunteers from the US and UK leading Pride Month activities 🌆 Support for Pride parades across 11 cities 🌈👏 Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating #love, #acceptance, and #inclusivity for all. #Pride Month #Pride #NGPride

🌈 Pride Month is almost here, and it’s a powerful reminder that Pride is not just a celebration, but also a protest. 🌈 Things are not looking great. While some countries made some positive steps towards LGBTQ+ inclusion, the UK continues to fall behind. As a queer femme, I am appalled and outraged by the continuous mistreatment of trans and non-binary people. Looking at hate crime stats but also day to day discrimination things are dire. While we, as workplaces and companies, get our rainbow flags out and prepare for the pride parades we attend, let's not forget to look inward. What do you do for your LGBTQ+ employees and customers all year around? Do you have learning initiatives that go deeper then just a glossy allyship session? Do you have policies and more importantly a culture that rejects all forms of homophobia, biphobia and transphobia? And lastly, how do you know? Working with over 90 clients in the past few years has showed me that most organisations do not have adequate feedback loops and monitoring iniatives. #PrideMonth #LGBTQ #Advocacy #Diversity #Inclusion #ImpactCulture #DEI #workplaceculture
🌈 Pride Month is almost here, and while we prepare to celebrate, it’s crucial to remember that Pride is not only a celebration but also a protest. 🌈 At Impact Culture, we are committed to highlighting the ongoing struggles and triumphs of the LGBTQ+ community around the world. As part of this commitment, we will be releasing Country Snapshots over the next month, starting with the experiences of LGBTQ+ people in the UK and Germany. 🎥 Check out our latest video on the state of LGBTQ+ rights in the UK. Despite progress in the previous decade, the UK has recently dropped to 15th place in ILGA-Europe’s rankings, highlighting the need for continued advocacy and action. We want to hear from you! What countries would you like to see featured in our upcoming snapshots? Let us know in the comments below. #PrideMonth #LGBTQ #ImpactCulture #Equality #Diversity #Inclusion

Facing homelessness and having to find suitable private rental accommodation is already incredibly hard. For someone who identifies as LGBTQ+ this challenge is often magnified. It's not just about finding a place to stay, but finding a home with roommates, landlords, and a local area that is LGBTQ+ friendly. The importance of safety and security cannot be overstated. It's crucial to find somewhere you can live comfortably and authentically as yourself. Your home should be a place of refuge where you feel respected and accepted. If you’re thinking about listing a room or know someone who is, think about how to advertise this in as much of an inclusive way as is possible . Also, have discussions with those around you about what more can be done to make people feel welcomed and safe. #LGBTQ #Homelessness #SafeHousing #InclusiveCommunity

🌈 Inclusiveness isn’t just a trend At #GESSEL we believe that support and accommodation for members of the LGBTQ+ community is critical to building an inclusive, equitable society. We don’t limit ourselves to gestures in June. The LGBTQ+ flag at our reception desk is there on a year-round basis. We want to cultivate an environment in which everybody feels at home. 🌟✊🏳️🌈 💪 As Pride Month gets underway, a quick summary of legal milestones along the road towards LGBTQ+ rights: ☑️Holland (2001): the world’s first legally recognised marriages for same-sex couples. ☑️Germany (2018): recognition of a third gender in official documents. ☑️Uganda (2014): newly enacted laws criminalising homosexuality meet with international opprobrium, leading to their partial overturn. ☑️USA (2011): the American armed forces abandon the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy, opening military service to declared members of the LGBTQ+ community. We also have our humble but big success: ⚖️ Joanna Kisielińska-Garncarek, PhD represented a transgender individual afflicted by homelessness as part of her work for the Po Drugie Foundation. Thanks to her perseverance, the client was able to sort out criminal charges and received another chance at a dignified life in society. Important though #PrideMonth is, its underlying spirit is very much present at #GESSEL at all other times and informs our daily practice.

As Pride season unfolds, discussions around corporate engagement with LGBTQ+ rights inevitably resurface. My latest piece for Council on Foreign Relations's Think Global Health examines the complex relationship between the #alcohol industry and Pride parades worldwide. With alcohol companies increasingly sponsoring #Pride marches and parades, I explore the potential implications of this form of marketing for the LGBTQ+ community, particularly in light of well-documented health disparities in alcohol consumption. I propose some short- and long-term solutions to address this form of alcohol marketing and its potential harmful impacts, while safeguarding the integrity of Pride events. In celebration of Pride Month, we are spotlighting some critical issues faced by the LGBTQ+ community, including healthcare disparities. Unfortunately, not all healthcare is created equal, and the LGBTQ+ community often faces significant barriers to accessing quality care. However, there are actionable steps that healthcare providers can take to address these challenges and close the gap. Activist, TEDx Speaker & Changemaker. I could list all of my achievements in this box, but I'm just not that sort of person
Help us to create hope through action, and to prevent LGBTQ+ suicide by sharing your story in our World Suicide Prevention Day campaign. For this campaign, I'm working with the Naz and Matt Foundation, along with Saba Ali FRSA, and we would like to speak to LGBTQ+ individuals (aged 18+) from religious or culturally conservative backgrounds who are out to their parents, have felt suicidal in their past, and whose parents are also willing to take part. If this applies to you, please click the link below to register your interest. If it doesn't apply to you, we'd be so grateful if you could help us by sharing this post. https://lnkd.in/eCmvmvcn How will you create hope through action? #CastingCall #LGBTQ #SuicidePrevention
