To boost its annual celebration of National Prime Rib Day in April, which highlights local Alberta Beef and raises awareness of Freson Bros.’ in-store butcher shop, the Canadian grocer ran spots showcasing the journey of Alberta Prime Rib and the skill of Freson’s master butchers. Strategic internal and external marketing materials in multiple channels supported the ads, which were produced in-house. The result? 🥳 Congratulations to the 2024 Kimberly-Clark Legacy Scholarship recipient. May this scholarship be the beginning of many great accomplishments in your future. Devin Smerdon A student at the University of Virginia, Smerdon appreciates the financial security this scholarship offers his family. “It impacts my career by validating all of the hard work I have put it and will continue to put in,” said Smerdon, who works as a front-end manager for K-VA-T Food Stores. “I hope to be able to explore the industry from a financial or supply chain side of operations.” The Scholarship program is coordinated through the NGA Foundation and funded by the generosity of our donors and affiliate groups.

Using Brach’s Candy Corn for a Halloween tie-in, the campaign included in-store signage and photos on social media, which drew the attention of area food bloggers. Soon, the store couldn’t keep up with demand and sales grew more than 40% over prior year, with more than 10,000 social media hits and rave reviews on Facebook – not bad for a grocery store in a town of 1,200 people.
