I received an interesting email from the organizers at the Lilly Conference Series (Todd Zakrajsek) about "Ungrading" in Higher Ed. The last paragraph was of particular interest: "The concept of ungrading is an essential, solid approach that can be taken to honor Social Work core values of service, the importance of human relationships, social justice, dignity and worth of the person, integrity, and competence starting in social work education and continuing on into practice." It has me wondering if the California Association of School-University Partnerships (Keith Derrick) might find such topics of interest as they seek to support effective K-12 teaching strategies being promoted by Higher Ed communities. https://lnkd.in/eBgV2NJZ

We are excited to gather with our AmeriCorps members for a dynamic series of In-Service Training workshop. Day 1 was marked by meaningful and thoughtful connections and discussions, laying a solid foundation for our continued learning and collaboration. These lessons cover a range of crucial topics, including: Restorative Justice in Schools with Shanté Stuart McQueen: Dive into methods for creating positive learning environments and addressing conflicts through inclusive, non-punitive approaches that foster community and understanding. AmeriCorps Guidelines with Kamil Khan: Gain a comprehensive understanding of essential policies to ensure compliance and maximize the effectiveness of our service delivery. Navigating Intersectionality with Rachel Lam & Carmen Denison: Explore the complexities of intersecting identities and learn strategies for supporting diverse communities with empathy and a deep appreciation for their unique experiences. We are eagerly anticipating our Day 2 in-person activities. Building on the meaningful interactions and engaging discussions from Day 1, we are excited to continue our journey of learning and connection.

I've always believed that students flourish in environments enriched by diverse experiences and community voices. As a teacher, I prioritized more than just academics; I embraced community partnerships and service learning. Witnessing my students grow in confidence, creativity, and compassion through these experiences was one of the most rewarding aspects of my teaching career. 🔗Get more insights in our complimentary 'Inclusivity' Checklist: https://bit.ly/42q2UD8
