Excited to share our latest publication, "Comparative analysis of COVID-19 pneumonia in pregnant versus matched non-pregnant women: radiologic, laboratory, and clinical perspectives," now available in Scientific Reports. Our study provides key insights into how COVID-19 affects pregnant women compared to non-pregnant counterparts, with a focus on laboratory and radiological discrepancies. We found that while pregnancy introduced some specific variations in markers, the overall severity and outcomes were comparable between both groups. This research adds to the growing body of knowledge on how COVID-19 interacts with different physiological states. Special thanks to my co-authors and collaborators who contributed to this meaningful work, specially Seyed Amir Ahmad Safavi Naini and Mehdi Azizmohammad Looha. #COVID19 #Pregnancy #ScientificResearch #Healthcare #PublicHealth

Exciting Research in Action! 🔬🧬 We’re proud to support groundbreaking work at UCL where a team of researchers is developing a new therapy to help prevent premature births in high-risk pregnancies. By boosting natural antimicrobial proteins in the cervix, this therapy aims to protect the womb from harmful bacteria and reduce the risk of early labour—giving babies the best start in life. 🩵 This vital project is jointly funded by Borne and Action Medical Research, bringing us closer to a world where every baby gets the chance to thrive. UChicago Medicine was one of the first institutions to implement the FDA-cleared biomarker blood test to aid in the risk assessment and clinical management of #preeclampsia. Results from a new real-world, post-market study found that incorporation of the sFlt-1/PlGF ratio into clinical practice serves as a dependable supplement in assessing risk for progression to preeclampsia with severe features and adverse outcomes in patients with hypertensive disorders of pregnancy in the US. The UChicago study also found that among patients with a low ratio, pregnancy may be prolonged, which resulted in better neonatal outcomes without harm to the mother. Unveiling a Hidden Aspect of PCOS: The Alloimmune Factor Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a condition many have heard about, but today, I want to throw light on a lesser-known aspect—how PCOS impacts pregnancy through immunological pathways. In my latest video, I explore: 🔹 The role of insulin resistance in allowing NK cells and TNF alpha to act uninhibitedly. 🔹 How this leads to alloimmune rejection of pregnancy and how ImmuLIT™ can help 🔹 The intricate interplay between PCOS and the immune system, affecting implantation. This is a crucial topic for anyone dealing with PCOS or working in reproductive health. Understanding these connections can open new avenues for treatment and hope. When you're pregnant! expect to meet your doctor about 15 times. Here’s how the visits typically break down: 1. First 7 months: (You’ll go for a checkup once a month) 2. 28 weeks to 36 weeks: (Checkups increase to once every 2 weeks) 3. 36 weeks until delivery: (You’ll visit your doctor every week.) Each checkup involves both mother and baby—including blood tests and scans. Reminder! These 15 visits apply to low-risk pregnancies. For high-risk pregnancies (e.g., high blood sugar, high BP, or medical complications), you’ll need more frequent visits. Take care, and stay informed!
