Against the backdrop of changing legislation and technological innovation, police and technology advisor Paul Kennedy, and Josh Hartlage, founder of tech company adventfs.com, explore how technologies can help police and other agencies to be more efficient and effective in the application of out-of-court resolutions (OOCRs), guided by the principle that OOCRs should always meet the needs of victims, first and foremost. ❝The rate of reoffending is a key performance measure for police and other agencies tasked with tackling the issue, and remains stubbornly high across the UK. Diversion from criminality is obviously a key requisite to reduce reoffending.❞ ❝The Government is committed to implementing an OOCR framework which is simpler for practitioners and the public to understand. This is coupled with a focus on victims and attaching meaningful conditions.❞ ❝Every caution will have to have a diversion intervention attached which is rehabilitative or reparative, making a difference to the perpetrator in terms of changing their behaviour by signposting them to help regarding mental health, drugs or alcohol for example.❞ ❝Technology will allow offenders to upload proof documents which agencies can then use to verify that the offender has completed an intervention programme.❞ https://lnkd.in/ewKHvxs5 #lawenforcement #policing #police #technology #criminaljustice

Public records, defined broadly under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), encompass various documents, from after-action reports to surveillance footage. The scope of what constitutes a public record continues to evolve with new technologies, and access varies by state due to differing regulations and policies. Understanding the intricacies of public records, including how to request them and potential costs, is essential for promoting transparency and accountability in government.
