Skills for Care, Bild Association of Certified Training (ACT) and the Restraint Reduction Network (RRN) coproduced a statement to clarify the difference between the Skills for Care PBS peer review process and the ACT certification of training that includes a restrictive component as complying with the RRN Training Standards. When applying for funding through the Department for Health and Social Care, organisations wishing to commission PBS training should refer to the Skills for Care PBS Peer Review Scheme.

Today, we presented the main results on the European EUFEMED Survey on Healthy Participant Engagement on the EACPT 2024 conference in Rotterdam via the poster added below. The results show that the healthy volunteer community recognizes the necessity of participant engagement and expresses a willingness to contribute towards this endeavor. We will go more into detail on this topic, and on the preferences and motivation of healthy volunteer trial participants in our webinar on 14 June 2024. https://lnkd.in/ePB5yFFT

I can’t read too much into Dr D. P. Singh’s FOI request to the Information Commissioner, available via What Do They Know, but their tone and approach makes me think they’re operating in good faith. Dr Singh wished to make an FOI request to the Eastern Deanery Cambridge, which they say is an NHS body. But it appears that the organisation has changed its name to ‘Workforce, Training and Education, East of England’. Dr Singh’s attempts to make a request have been unsuccessful and I don’t know why. For this reason, I’m not going to cast aspersions. However, any remotely competent attempt to make a request to ‘Workforce, Training and Education, East of England’ should have been fruitful, because whatever it was, the organisation is now part of NHS England. Given that Dr Singh is more than capable of making a coherent request to the ICO (essentially asking what gives), I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that their other requests were equally clear. ‘Workforce, Training and Education, East of England’ is as valid a place to send an FOI request to NHS England as their central office. If Dr Singh made a request to them, only two answers were conceivable and only one is legally correct. I can just about imagine someone in Cambridge asking Dr Singh to make their request to NHS England’s HQ. That would have been wrong but stuff happens. But the correct response would have been for ‘Workforce, Training and Education, East of England’ to accept the request, and whatever internal jiggery-pokery was required to deliver an answer, Dr Singh did not need to know a thing about it. Whether you’re a national body or a tiny quango with two offices, I can send my request wherever I like. I can choose the less convenient destination deliberately. That’s your problem, not mine. https://lnkd.in/gxUpYgSP

Experienced Mental Health Leader. NHS employee and provides additional support to other organisations.
The CQC has a very important job in ensuring safe care. My perspective Health and Care services Go back to essential and fundamentals of care and focus on safety, clinical facing legislation, and effectiveness including clinical outcomes for people/ pathways and organisational with standards for population health ( if a bigger organisation ) Safety is staff safety too. Functional guides not generic. For health, care, provider. Have an ICB assessment too Assess - equity and waiting times in Responsive in ICB assessments. If you are running huge waiting lists you haven’t commissioned or contracted for performance. If you have no preventative work it’s the same. If you are making no headway at PLACE same again. Assess - well led At system level only including ICB and trust boards Time for a reset. Have a read and consider what you see.

Our free webinars for NEDs are proving popular but there is still time to book a place. If you are a NED with particular responsibility for speaking up, a Board Secretary, a CEO, a Chair or work with or for a Board in any NHS organisation or provider of NHS services, you may find these webinars useful. They look at the role of NEDs, expectations set from national bodies, and offer practical tips to help ensure that the Board role-models good practice.
