During 2015-2019, several industrial parks were piloted for eco-industrial infrastructure development: 🔹Khanh Phu & Gian Khau Industrial Park, Ninh Binh Province; 🔹Hoa Khanh Industrial Park, Da Nang Province; 🔹Tra Noc 1 & Tra Noc 2 Industrial Park, Can Tho Province; From 2020 to 2023, the Ministry of Planning and Investment continued to collaborate with UNIDO to replicate the eco-industrial park model in other locations: Hai Phong, Dong Nai, and Ho Chi Minh City. As a result, 603 resource-efficient and cleaner production solutions (RECP) were proposed in three industrial parks: 🔹Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park, Ho Chi Minh City; 🔹Amata Industrial Park, Dong Nai Province; 🔹DEEP C Industrial Park, Hai Phong City; 🍃 The UNIDO National Representative in Vietnam, Mrs. Le Thi Thanh Thao, highly appreciates the Vietnamese Government's commitment to eco-industrial park development and the close cooperation with the Ministry of Planning and Investment.  Building and transitioning to the eco-industrial park model bring sustainable economic, environmental, and social benefits to industrial development, which is an urgent requirement and an inevitable trend in current industrial development. China built the world’s FIRST FOREST CITY with ~40,000 trees and 1 million plants! Spanning 175 hectares along the Liujiang River, it’s strategically positioned in the Southern province of Guangxi – one of the world’s most smog-affected urban areas. This forest city’s diverse vegetation, representing over 100 different species, will produce: – ~900 tonnes of oxygen every year – Absorb ~10,000 tons of CO2 & 57 tons of pollutants annually But that's not all – China also invested over $100 billion in 2016 to build another forest city in Malaysia. This is more spectacular; the Liuzhou Forest City in China is amazing. It is such a big thing to have such dedication towards tree planting and toward the provision of more trees in the urban setting. I must say that I am quite amazed by benefits that can be lista here; such as all that oxygen generated, and all that pollution being taken in. At least it’s a start for a city that actually suffocates in smog half the year. Sincerely, I am interested in how this project progresses in the long run and whether it is as effective as people say it is. It will be rather relevant to observe the effect which results either in the local environment changes or which affects the population of this territory. That China which is now funding the development of another forest city in Malaysia is an indication of how this idea could go global. All in all, these forest cities can be deemed as one of the most interesting experiments in the sphere of urbanism. This is rather amusing and shows that there are people who are willing to make serious efforts to combine the modern city with the natural landscape. I only hope they will indeed help in creating a better foundation on how human beings can coexist with nature in a much better way.
