This #DentalHealthWeek, we focus on the unique challenges faced by rural Australians, particularly our children. With fewer dental practitioners and poorer oral health compared to urban areas, action is needed. The Department of Health and Aged Care supports extra rural health dental training places following the Senate Select Committee's report, ‘A System in Decay: A Review into Dental Services in Australia.’ We urge the government to act on these recommendations to improve dental services in rural communities. Join us in advocating for better dental care for our rural children. Together, we can ensure everyone has access to quality oral healthcare. 🦷 Learn more about dental health in rural Australia: https://lnkd.in/g8wn3NjM #DentalHealthWeek #RuralHealth #OralHealth #HealthySmiles #DentalCare #DHW2024

For all the people and organisations (including me) who contributed in good faith to the 'Senate Inquiry into the Provision of, and Access to, Dental Services in Australia', I'm disappointed and upset as your lived and living experiences of inability to access and afford dental services has fallen on deaf ears. Senator Jordon Steele-John and his team listened to what we had to say and were moved by what they heard. And yet, there is nothing hopeful to read in the government's response. To rub salt into our wound, the government response says that dental and oral health therapists will be included in the independent 'Scope of Practice Review - Unleashing the Potential of our Health Workforce' - it is a pity that you did not tell us that we were included, as we would have contributed. https://lnkd.in/gHiKGVJw There is no way Australia is going to meet the WHO target towards universal health coverage for oral health by 2030, and the WHO's Global Strategy and Action Plan on Oral Health 2023-2030. People are hurting and so are their mouths. We want action NOW! Public sector dental services only treat 7-12% of the eligible population, and this percentage would be much less for persons receiving care in the aged, home and disability sectors. In particular, older people deserve better and we can do better Aged Care Reform Now https://lnkd.in/g6skYRZK

Last night, the Biden Administration released a rule underscoring that #dental coverage is ESSENTIAL to overall health. The rule would finally allow adult #dentalcoverage to be included in Affordable Care Act marketplace plans. This is the first-time federal policymakers have acted to improve adult #oralhealth in ACA coverage. States now have the option to include adult dental benefits in their “essential health benefits” - a huge opportunity to make dental coverage and care more affordable. Going forward, this will be a critical step for states to take to improve health outcomes, reduce health disparities, and open access to oral health care for millions more people in America. https://ow.ly/WwbN50R7Rpf

This is a huge deal! Finally, adult dental coverage can find its rightful place within Affordable Care Act marketplace plans, marking a historic breakthrough for oral health advocacy. At MouthWatch, we've always championed the belief that oral health is fundamental to overall health. This rule not only validates that belief but also signifies a significant shift towards a future where dental care is more accessible and affordable for all. By granting states the option to include adult dental benefits as part of their "essential health benefits," this opens doors to improved health outcomes, reduced disparities, and increased access to vital oral health services for countless families and individuals, many of whom could now be able to access to affordable oral health coverage…and care, for perhaps the first time. We couldn't be more thrilled to witness this significant step toward improving access to oral health care. #OralHealthISOverallHealth #DentalCoverage

Today is World Health Day, first established back in 1948 by the World Health Organisation (WHO) to raise awareness about global health matters. This year’s theme is "My health, my right", reminding us all that health is a fundamental right. #CeflaMedicalEquipment sees oral health is an essential human right and a crucial factor in a person's well-being. As a manufacturer of dental units and medical equipment, we constantly strive to deliver dental health by working alongside dentists and other healthcare professionals. Today, and every day, oral health is a top priority. This image has multiple layers of meaning! I do think fundamentally we see the results of policy choices. From the tax subsidies of multinationals that make fast foods/ processed foods cheaper , insufficient amenities and active transport options when governments prioritise on car-dependency, also how to be less sedentary when we are all stuck in car-induced traffic congestion. Can we solve all these problems with more taxes, more cars, more roads, more suburban sprawl, more gyms? Or rethink about how to make our environment less obesogenic, which may need to start as simple as more walkable neighborhoods.
24 hour McDonald’s strategically located next door to a GP Clinic… Society really needs to make some lifestyle changes or accept that medical services will just be there to pick up the pieces of an increasingly sedentary and obese population

Improving access to dental care is vital for all individuals, especially those facing socioeconomic and racial disparities. Providing care in non-traditional settings like schools, nursing homes, and pharmacies can benefit patients, providers, and employers. It's time to break down barriers and think innovatively about oral health delivery methods. https://lnkd.in/g7BC482h #DentalCareForAll #HealthEquity
