NSC applauds the enactment of legislation in Michigan making opioid overdose reversal medication, such as #naloxone, accessible in State workplaces when training on use and administration are available. Nationally, overdoses account for nearly 1 in 10 worker deaths on the job and have increased by more than 600% since 2011. With tens of thousands of people employed by the State of Michigan, this law is a step towards saving lives on the job. #WorkplaceSafety #SafetyForAll Learn more here and find resources from the NSC #RespondReady Workplace program: https://lnkd.in/gZE7iqnG.

NSC is elated that opioid overdose reversal medication will be stocked and training on how to administer it will soon be provided in California workplaces, thanks to the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA) granting our petition proposing the requirement. Nationally, overdoses account for nearly 1 in 10 worker deaths on the job and have increased by more than 600% since 2011. In 2021, over 18% of workplace fatalities in California were due to an unintentional overdose. #WorkplaceSafety #SafetyForAll NSC has been actively advocating for #naloxone availability and access in all U.S. workplaces - including those in California. NSC firmly believes the inclusion of this opioid overdose reversal medication and training will help the state combat the opioid crisis. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/giQWcbfr.

This is a big deal. Here is the gist: Through this Licensing Alert, the Department is granting exceptions to some state rules for OTPs if the OTPs comply with the rules in 42 CFR Part 8. The Department plans to include the changes to the federal rules when it updates its own state rules. Some of the changes include: • Not making someone be physically dependent on opioids for one year prior to being admitted for treatment. • Allowing verbal consent to treatment. • Allowing a wider range of dosages based on physician discretion. • Allowing eight drug screens per year instead of 12. • Allowing more people to take their medication home instead of going to the OTP for it as often. • Making counseling requirements unique to each person’s needs.
We are expanding access to medication for the treatment of opioid use disorder across Pennsylvania! Effective immediately, Opioid Treatment Programs (OTPs) can follow the federal regulations noted in Licensing Alert 07-24, without requesting an exception: https://lnkd.in/enHH7iam Questions?
