NSC applauds the release of the "Saving Lives with Connectivity: A Plan to Accelerate V2X Deployment" roadmap by the United States Department of Transportation. This roadmap lays the groundwork to invite federal and state partners, private industry and safety advocates together to harness the power of wireless technology to save lives on our nation's roadways. In 2022, 46,027 people died in motor vehicle crashes. Preventable deaths like these are unacceptable, and with increased partnership and collaboration, deployment of V2X technology across the transportation and infrastructure network will save lives. #RoadwaySafety #KeepEachOtherSafe Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gjeXe9ba.

In an effort to reduce roadway deaths and crashes, the U.S. Department of Transportation on Friday rolled out a plan to accelerate the deployment of vehicle-to-everything technology. Known as V2X, the technology helps vehicles wirelessly communicate with each other and roadside infrastructure, as well as with other road users like bicyclists and pedestrians. It’s existed in some form for decades and has already been deployed in several cities and states, but now the Biden administration wants to speed up its adoption. The administration is calling on more state and local governments to update their transportation plans and investment strategies to include V2X technology. Officials said it would provide seed funding and investment to accelerate V2X deployments, help share best practices and lessons learned to realize cost savings and efficiencies, and provide support in areas like standards, architecture and testing to encourage V2X systems to be interoperable. The federal government and numerous industry stakeholders want vehicle-to-everything technology to increasingly become part of the country’s national highways, intersections and vehicles to improve safety. Known as V2X, the digital communication could help prevent crashes, optimize system performance, improve transportation efficiency and improve roadway condition awareness of issues such as weather and work zones, according to a plan summary. https://lnkd.in/eTd64U8Q

Vehicle-to-everything technology can revolutionize road safety and traffic efficiency by enabling vehicles to communicate with each other, infrastructure, and pedestrians. However, concerns have been raised about data collection and usage. Federal regulators recommend that the 75 largest US cities should implement this technology in a quarter of their intersections by 2028. #V2X #RoadSafety #TrafficFlow
