Here in Cairo, I and my two outstanding experts, Ms. Natasha Müller and Dr. Ingemar Engkvist, are leading a unique International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Mission with Egypt’s Nuclear Power Plant Authority (NPPA). It is an event in two parts: A three day pilot leadership development workshop followed by a one day strategic planning session to conceive of and create their own robust and flexible #dynamicleadership development programme. Their goal? To sustain a strong and agile pipeline of talented #nuclear leaders who will ensure Egypt’s clean energy and climate commitments are realized. Looking forward to reporting on the outcome of the event later this week. Encouraging to see yet another opportunity to prepare future nuclear leaders.

It is a scary subject but it is important that we know about it. I think that the responsibility of the global leaders is to keep us safe. I do not see that daily threats and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction including nuclear weapons are the solution. Threats in the case of nuclear weapons could lead to the wrong decisions and a disastrous result. What we need is a new mindset, new leaders that can negotiate and innovate, and the will to collaborate across borders. We are in the year 2024 and it is time that we learn from past mistakes.
