Trainees going through Basic Combat Training, #BCT, are exposed to Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Chamber (CBRN) training to learn how to properly put on their gas masks properly. The purpose of this training is for Trainees to build confidence in themselves and their protective equipment in the case they're exposed to a chemical attack in combat. The review of the IAEA General Safety Requirements No. GSR Part 7, Preparedness and Response for a Nuclear or Radiological Emergency, started in 2023 with 3 working groups (WGs) composed of members of the IAEA’s Emergency Preparedness and Response Standards Committee (EPReSC). Building on the 3 WGs’ outputs, in January 2024 I had the honour of conducting a 5-day consultancy meeting to continue this review effort with experts – non-members of EPReSC - from 4 member states. Takeaways from the meeting will highlight, supplement or balance findings and proposals made by the 3 EPReSC WGs. This thorough review will inform the scope and magnitude of the GSR Part 7 revision.  https://lnkd.in/ewEJzYHP

I remember clearly the extensive challenges associated with all the checklists that we wanted done. Delinquent inspections, follow-up execution and documentation, and just getting the inspections placed in filing cabinets for document retention.
