Exciting developments are underway at GRAUC, with significant progress on two major initiatives. Firstly, we're actively engaging with our partners through interviews to discern emerging trends within their sectors. These discussions are invaluable as we chart the course for GRAUC's next phase, ensuring our offerings align closely with the evolving needs of our partners and the broader industry landscape. Secondly, our collaboration with community partners is advancing towards the realization of a project: the establishment of a community healthcare simulation center prototype. This initiative addresses a need for expanded simulation center capacity, enhancing training opportunities for both students and healthcare professionals across the region. At GRAUC, our unwavering commitment remains focused on addressing the workforce demands of our community. These initiatives are pivotal in fulfilling our mission and reinforcing our dedication to driving positive change in the region's educational and professional landscape.

But when it goes negative, it confirms who they really are. It's often said that adversity doesn't build character, it reveals it. When things are going smoothly, it's easy to maintain a positive demeanor and get along with others. However, during challenging times, true personalities, resilience, and the capacity to handle stress and uncertainty come to the forefront. This can be true in many aspects of life, whether in personal relationships, professional environments, or even in how people manage their finances during economic downturns. It’s in these moments of crisis that individuals and organizations show their true strength and values.

"The feeling of making demands isn't something that comes naturally to people from low opportunity backgrounds.” We were lucky enough to head into the offices of our partner Beam last week. We sat down with the fantastic Ziyad about the need for career mentoring, learning to ask for a job you actually want, and what being a career mentor means to him as socially mobile talent himself: “I’m a refugee. I was born in a council house. My mum was a single mum with three children… Me and my siblings would have all been Zero Gravity alumni.” For Ziyad, career mentoring is an opportunity to help out someone who was in his shoes - someone super smart from a similar background, navigating the same unknown waters he crossed himself a few years ago. “What I'm seeing a lot with her is a lot of things I experienced myself post graduating.” Swipe to see how Ziyad is helping his mentee with some graduate career advice - even just where to start with getting a job after university - and some of his general life wisdom.
