If you are building a new practice becoming known for veterinary services in your area is crucial. One of the ways to do that is by getting involved in your community. While there are endless opportunities of giving back, concentrating on those that allow you to share your expertise with animal care could be the most important avenue. Here are a few ideas: Volunteer at an animal shelter or rescue center. They have events that you can participate in if you don't have time for a weekly commitment. Pet Stores and Groomers - Collaborate with them during events to provide pet check-ups or advice. Search for animal-themed community events that you can help and provide pet advice. #VeterinaryIndustry #veterinarypractice #veterinarymedicine #veterinarymarketing #veterinaryclinic

Animal control often is the target. Maybe 75 years ago but not today. If communities spay/neutered, didn't reqlinquish as often and more often adopted there would be no need to discuss. Of stray cat found in store room do the following - Check for any identification like a collar or tags. - Assess the cat's health and behavior; if friendly and healthy, it may be a lost pet. - If possible, safely transport the cat to a vet or shelter for a microchip scan. - Provide temporary shelter, food, and water while attempting to locate the owner. - Contact local animal shelters, vets, and rescue groups to report the found cat. - Use social media and community platforms to post about the found cat. - If no owner is found, consider fostering the cat until a permanent home is secured. #veterinarymedicine #catlover #veterinarylife #petclinic Pet First Veterinary Clinic #straycat

Attention all cat owners! Did you know that from 10 June 2024, it’s going to be a legal requirement for ALL cats to be microchipped in England? 🐈 Latest figures from our upcoming 2024 PDSA Animal Wellbeing (PAW) Report revealed that a whopping 54% of cat owners are still not aware of this new law! And since last year’s report, there’s only been a 3% increase in the population of cats with a microchip. Currently, 22% of cats across the UK are still not microchipped. That's nearly 2.4 million cats 🙀 Getting your cat microchipped will ensure they have the best chance of being reunited with you as quickly as possible, should they get lost, stolen or injured. All cats must be implanted with a microchip before they reach the age of 20 weeks. And if they're found without one, owners will be given just 21 days to get their cat chipped or face a fine of up to £500. Your one month countdown starts today! Find out how to get your feline friends ready: http://pdsa.me/yDip #ChipYourPetMonth [Visual description: Black cat, Vader, at one of our Pet Hospitals being scanned by one of our veterinary team members, to check for a microchip.]

⏰ TIME TO REGISTER 📅April 16 Webinar TNR, TNVR, RTF, SNR, RTF….It can all seem a little confusing. What can your community do to address free-roaming cats that, all too often, find their way into the shelter? Communities across the U.S. have embraced models that proactively address community cats. 🐈 Join us on April 16 when Adam Leath and Becky Haze will explore current and emerging terminology surrounding community cats and examine ways of addressing the overpopulation. As animal welfare professionals, we are the best equipped to provide factual information about humane handling and response to the needs of our community. Unfortunately, the topic of how to address community cats can be quite polarizing. This can result in complaints to your department, restructuring or even elimination of programs and services, or the implementation of programs that are void of parameters that prioritize the welfare of the animals. During this session, we hope to spark interest in the development of programs that focus on data-driven solutions to community cats. 🐈Register Soon! FAQ: How do I know if my pet needs a BBVSH specialist? Advances in animal health care have led to a wide variety of treatment options, including highly specialized diagnostic and treatment procedures. Board-certified specialists have spent at least three to five years after obtaining their veterinary degree focusing strictly on a specific discipline. This concentrated training results in an in-depth knowledge of advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in a given field, which allows a specialist to provide specialized treatments for your pet. In addition, a specialist may have access to diagnostic equipment not generally used by your family veterinarian. Should your pet require a specialist, talk to your family vet about a referral to BBVSH. If you do not have a family vet, you can contact us directly at (604) 514-8383 or info[at]bbvsh[dot]com.
