We were honored to host Mr. Kelly McKeague, Director of the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA), as a speaker in our Kennan Lecture Series. With more than 80,000 American personnel still missing in action from past conflicts, DPAA works relentlessly with U.S. agencies, diplomatic missions, and partners to provide the fullest possible accounting for their families and our nation. Thank you, Mr. McKeague, for your time and for the tireless efforts of DPAA, as we remember those who are not forgotten.

Run, Warriors! Run! Congratulations to the NWC running team on winning the President's Cup trophy in the annual National Defense University 5K and to all who participated!

Recently, Mr. Jude Blanchette, the Freeman Chair in China Studies at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), shared his insights and expertise with our students, providing a #strategic lens of analysis that complemented and built upon our China Foundations course earlier in the year.

Is there a better way to round out the week than with some wargaming? Students in the Civil War elective tested their battlefield strategies as they discussed the changing character of war. 

Congratulations to the newest inductee into the National Hall of Fame of the National Defense University, our very own National War College Class of 2000 alumnus, Admiral (ret) Cecil D. Haney. ADM Haney, former commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet and the U.S. Strategic Command, is an inspiring model of service, character, and strategic leadership.

Mr. Matan Chorev, Principal Deputy Director of the Secretary of State’s Policy Planning Staff, shared his insights and experience with NWC students on the diplomatic context of the world today. Thank you, Mr. Chorev for sharing your time with our strategists!

A strategist must be able to critically analyze and appreciate the contextual complexity of the world around them. This week we kicked off our Global Context course led by Dr. Omer Taspinar where students will dive deep into the actors, structures, drivers, and trends of the world today.

Congratulations to our newest NWC Assistant Professors!

The National War College was honored to host HE Dr. Kevin Rudd AC, Australia's Ambassador to the United States, as part of our Kennan Lecture Series on grand strategy. In his presentation, former Prime Minister Rudd discussed strategic decision making, U.S. and PRC approaches to deterrence in the Indo-Pacific, and avenues to peace and stability -- sharing his unique experiences as both a diplomat and political leader in the region. We thank Ambassador Rudd for sharing his time and expertise with our students and faculty!

It was a great day for some friendly competition on the softball field as the NWC faculty took on Committee 4. Go Warriors!
