Hiring Challenges in Landscaping Jobs – But Staying Hopeful! Hiring for landscaping positions has definitely been a challenge lately, and I know I’m not alone in this. It’s tough out there! I’ve been spending a lot of time searching, making calls, and reaching out to candidates, only to be ghosted more times than I’d like to admit. It’s disheartening, especially when you know there’s so much potential in this industry. Finding people who want to take pride in their work and commit to the job seems harder than ever. Today marks to the exact day 20-years working as Environmental Engineer…all 20yrs at #CDMSmith! Insane! How can it be? 🤯 It's triggering a bit of a self reflecting mid-career crisis. Of course when I started I was clueless and I didn’t know anything but I've since realized my career goals are two-fold; Goal #1) Design & build infrastructure: Projects that “do something good” and are challenging and innovative. I've always wanted to "do projects" and not just talk about them and I never want to do the same thing twice. Goal #2.) Have fun. 🎉 I feel that work is waaayyy too much of ones life to not strive to seek enjoyment and find the funny bits and the jokes within your everyday work (of course, some days feel more fun than others and some conference calls feel like a joke). That said, over the last 20 years I do know I have been able to do great projects and have fun and I'm thankful to have found a place working with amazing teams and colleagues that “let me cook” on my equally important goals every single day...some 5,200 workdays and counting now. ✌️💓💩 Also, we are hiring. 😁
