The Molecular Characterization Initiative is part of NCI’s Childhood Cancer Data Initiative and is a national collaboration between the childhood cancer community, including the Children’s Oncology Group, advocates, pediatric oncologists, researchers, data scientists, children and adolescent and young adults (AYAs) with cancer, and families. It provides state-of-the-art molecular characterization at the time of diagnosis that helps participants and doctors select the best and most appropriate treatment. Participation in the initiative is voluntary and the costs to participate are covered by the program. Learn more: https://go.nih.gov/HRbI4au #AYASCM #Data4ChildhoodCancer
This initiative is an excellent step toward improving childhood cancer treatment through molecular characterization. It’s inspiring to see how this approach helps tailor therapies and advance research for rare and challenging cancers
Thank you National Cancer Institute (NCI) for prioritizing children with project every child!
The Molecular Characterization Initiative is a remarkable step forward in personalized treatment for childhood and AYA cancers. By providing molecular insights at diagnosis, it empowers doctors and patients to make informed treatment decisions. A shining example of collaboration in the fight against cancer!
