SAARC: 🇧🇩 Bangladesh to revive world's largest regional organisation Acting Bangladeshi PM Muhammad Yunus has announced his intention to revive the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC). Facts about South Asian organisation👇 ▪️SAARC is a regional intergovernmental organisation and geopolitical union in South Asia. Founded in 1985, it aims to promote economic and regional integration. ▪️In terms of population, it is the largest regional organisation in the globe, with approximately 1.6 bln residents. ▪️Due to India-Pakistan tensions and Taliban's coming into power in Afghanistan, the organisation has been suspended, and India now collaborates with eastern neighbors via Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC). ▪️Comprising eght member states — Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka — SAARC works towards fostering collaboration on issues like trade, education and cultural exchange. 🎯 Key Goals of the organisation: ▪️Economic growth: Enhance economic cooperation and trade among South Asian nations. ▪️Cultural exchange: Celebrate the rich and diverse cultural heritage of South Asia. ▪️Regional stability: Promote peace and security in the region through diplomatic efforts. 👉 Why it matters: SAARC plays a crucial role in addressing regional challenges, promoting sustainable development and building a stronger, united South Asia.

India is preserving its global maritime legacy with the India Maritime Heritage Conclave 2024 With the inauguration of the India Maritime Heritage Conclave 2024 by Hon’ble Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, India takes a monumental step in honoring its maritime heritage. PM Narendra Modi emphasized India’s strategic location in the Indian Ocean and the country’s rich maritime legacy, from the ancient dockyards of Lothal to its important role in shaping global trade networks. Initiatives like the National Maritime Heritage Complex at Lothal showcase India’s commitment to preserving this legacy for generations. India’s maritime diplomacy, through initiatives like SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region), reinforces its position as a stabilizing force in the Indo-Pacific. With collaboration across ministries, the conclave highlights opportunities for skill development, cultural tourism, and youth engagement. Participation from 11 countries shows the international significance of the conclave. Under the leadership of PM Modi, India is not just reclaiming its maritime legacy but transforming it into a beacon for sustainable growth and cultural exchange.
