The brutal truth is that evasion of responsibility often results in failure: A surprisingly high proportion (up to 60%) of postgraduate MA students are on extensions to submit their thesis. ➜ Despite having successfully completed their assignments for modules 1 to 4, many postgraduates on extensions fail to submit a thesis (module 5) and thus fail to graduate. ➜ These extensions are of finite duration, depending on the institution. ➜ In addition, the stress involved in writing a thesis on an extension is debilitating for all concerned, including family. ➜ Prioritise your thesis early - be proactive - don't lean towards reactive. ➜ Get your supervisor relationship and topic choice in place. ➜ Establish timelines for the completion of your building blocks. ➜ Please make sure to get your systems and network in place. ➜ These are the critical issues for timely submission.
