🔍 Simplifying and Spicing Up FoodStudio's Packaging FoodStudio has been a trusted name in our kitchens for years, making broths and sauces that turn everyday meals into something special. Their old packaging served them well, but as times changed and their product line expanded, it was time for a refresh to stay ahead of the competition. The Challenge: The old packaging, which we also designed, was perfect for its time, but with the market evolving and FoodStudio's product assortment growing (they now have lines for both people and pets!), it needed an update. The goal was to create something clean, simple, and visually appealing to make FoodStudio's products pop. Our Solution: We went back to basics. The new packaging is all about lightness, joy and clarity. We stripped away the excess info and used bold, clear icons to represent each flavor. Chicken broth? Big chicken icon. Easy. Technical Tweaks: Clear Edge: We added a clear edge to the recyclable plastic packaging so you can see it’s real broth. To make sure the natural sediments don’t scare anyone off, we gave it a stylish fade to black. Splash of Color: Each flavor got its own vibrant color, not just to be pretty but to spread a little joy and lightness. Imagine grabbing a chicken broth with a cheerful yellow or a beef broth with a rich red – it’s like a rainbow in your kitchen! Human Grade Food: With FoodStudio expanding into pet food, we kept the same clean look but tweaked the broths to be perfect for pets—no seasonings, just goodness. The Results: Customers love the new look! It’s clean, it’s colorful, and it stands out. Plus, we even picked up a bronze at the Kuldmuna Awards in the Packaging Design category for food and beverages excluding alcoholic beverages. As we see in recent innovations, such as the vegan slippers crafted from biodegradable components in one's own kitchen, this is more than a passing trend. It's a testament to how #Designmethodologies can intersect with natural systems to create products that exist harmoniously within the planet's life cycle. From a technical perspective, this approach challenges traditional #Designparadigms. It demands that we reconsider the material selection process, factoring in not only #durability and #performance but also the afterlife of materials—how they #decompose, what #ecologicalfootprint they leave behind, and whether they can seamlessly reintegrate into the #environment. Circular design thinking pushes us to eliminate the concept of #waste entirely by focusing on #renewable inputs and designing with #endoflife scenarios at the forefront. Designers like Luís César N. In a previous version, Robby’s cleaning process ran on a fixed 30-second program, using a drinking water dispenser. During a visit to a client’s kitchen, I casually suggested to a worker that they could stop the cleaning early for dishes with lighter residue. Shortly after, the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) manager approached me and made it clear: they needed every worker to strictly follow the program to avoid inconsistencies or mistakes. That moment sparked a realization. What if we could design Robby to not only adapt to different cleaning needs but also seamlessly align with each client’s unique SOP? That’s exactly what we did. Now, Robby’s auto-cleaning can be tailored to save time while still meeting the high standards of every kitchen. At the core of our product development is listening to our customers. Their insights shape how we improve our technology, helping us build a smarter, more adaptable Robby for today’s kitchens.
