Cardiac Risk In The Young 7 years ago Charlie Craig went to sleep and didnt wake up he was 15 years old. Charlie was ultra fit and was already making his way in the world of elite mountain biking. Charlie was my son Isaac's mate. Let talk about C-R-Y (Cardiac Risk in the Young) -their aim is "Preventing young sudden cardiac deaths through screening and research and supporting affected families" It is so so so so important that anyone between 14 -35 gets screened to identify those at risk. "Screening to identify young people at risk is cost-effective when conducted correctly – the conditions can be treated, securing a future for those identified." I like Ben's and Alex's take and agree more healthcare providers and personal trainers need to focus on movement optimism, rather than barriers and performing the "right" exercise. Aim to meet the PA guidelines. Any type of movement is beneficial across the board. Going on walks or doing a session focused on biceps and triceps are both beneficial for people with low back pain. Exercise is a great answer but it is not the only answer for treating pain. But pain is not the only target. Building muscle mass, power, and strength (all key health variables) requires specific dosing of movement. Most individuals do not do intense enough activity outside of formal exercise to promote those improvements. Simply being active is key for pain but exercise is the answer to improve muscle, strength, and power.
