Natural Assets Initiative (NAI)’s Post

The Town of Pelham, ON is spearheading #NaturalAssetManagement in their region, and other communities are taking note ✍ "We're a small town, and to have larger municipalities like Winnipeg — and even Toronto — seeking our advice is incredible" Shannon Larocque, Manager of Planning at Pelham. The Town's efforts are focused on developing their Municipal Asset Management Strategy, a tool to set and achieve strategic priorities for #ClimateAdaptation. As the Niagara Region experiences a population surge, this plan will ultimately help Pelham balance development needs and maintaining critical #EcosystemServices provided by nature. We're proud to have been a part of these efforts through the Pelham Greenbelt Natural Asset Management project. Congratulations to the Town of Pelham for their ongoing work and serving as a guide for Canadian communities! Check out the full article from Anushka Yadav at The Pointer: https://lnkd.in/eTzS9DnS

Congratulations to the Town of Pelham. Greenscale is about to start work for another Township in Ontario to advance their Natural Asset Inventory as part of their commitment to managing climate change, among other benefits. I'm really glad to see that an increasing number of municipalities are working on this important task to ensure sustainable land use going forward. It is important for several economic sectors, communities, and of course, habitat and ecosystem function.
