Events on a budget! One of the least expensive events is a potluck. You may have memories of jello salads with a backyard BBQ. In today's modern environment, the potluck is more elevated and sophisticated. Online invitations allow your guests to comment on what they will bring, making duplicates less likely. Trick... with your event reminders, include how much of what food or beverage is already coming and make requests. Recently, I managed a potluck charcuterie happy hour. Every guest was to bring their favorite charcuterie item. One week before the event, there were 9 cheeses, 3 jams, and one meat. I sent my reminder and asked for wine, meats, fruit, and crackers. The day of the happy hour, I had 4 bottles of wine, 2 generous cracker displays, apples, red and green grapes, and 3 more protein options. For the event, I put out beautiful silver platters, make your own tags to label the items, cutting and spreading knives, a few espresso spoons for the jams, wine glasses, and a corkscrew. I also added a small chocolate fountain and dipping items for a sweet treat. Put on some music (I like Bing Crosby and other crooners), dimmed the lights a bit, and Voila! Cruffins as big as people’s heads!!! IFE,  ExCeL London It was good to see a few of our customers last week at this great food industry event. This event is getting bigger and bigger each year. Cruffins as big as people’s heads, whatever a cruffin is, unfortunately I didn’t get the chance to taste a one of these, but they looked amazing. There was some really nice food on display and to sample, which both me and Ryan did throughout the days that we attended. In the middle of the hall, which did break up the different industries, was a huge pub event, with beers and spirits as well as other services for pub industry. Which I can’t remember from last year, and that is not because I was too drunk, but it was good to meet some of these small (and large) breweries as we do now export and import alcohol. The event must have been over subscribed as there where a few industries out of sync, a burger seller in the machinery department and one of our ice cream customers in the advice part of the exhibition, but I guess as things get more popular there will be a few discrepancies. Overall, a great turnout, we initially went to visit and support our customers and it was really nice to speak to people in person. One of our customers said, everything we have on this stall was imported by NETS, we even provided the vehicle to take all of there goods to the event. Sometimes, and I know it shouldn’t, but you don’t realise how much you do help businesses achieve their goals, just by providing the best service you can give, and it was nice to get that amazing feedback. When you are in the office and on the telephone, it is hard to get the intensity of the appreciation that some people have for what you do, and it is quite overwhelming when people rave about you. Our whole team worked so hard to help some of the exhibitors. We are looking forward to next years event and helping even more customers, especially with our new temperature controlled European groupage service. #ife #foodindustry

Drinks sales experienced a year-on-year decline last week, with comparisons being influenced by the 2022 football World Cup. Despite this, there were encouraging signs in certain trading areas that suggest optimism for a robust Christmas season. CGA by NIQ’s Daily Drinks Tracker shows average sales in managed venues in the week to last Saturday (9 December) were 9% behind the same week last year. Over the previous eight weeks, growth has only surpassed 1% on a single occasion.
