This architectural concept features two towering structures with a dynamic, flowing design, reminiscent of organic forms. The rich contrast between the reflective glass and the warm-toned metallic accents creates a sense of luxury and modernity. The buildings' form, with its undulating balconies and terraces, offers a harmonious blend of natural elements and urban living, suggesting a high level of detail in landscape integration. Communal areas bridging the two structures promote a sense of community and interaction. The design's boldness, innovative approach to high-rise living, and integration of green spaces could be highly rated for their contribution to both the skyline and the well-being of its inhabitants.

Why is no one talking about the return of natural stone in modern architecture? Actually someone is, it’s AD-Italia that has featured here https://lnkd.in/d_3FiYH6 this “stone house” project, a luxury villa in Rome. A minimalist design with extended use of travertine for the cladding that gives the idea of “eternity” and value. This trend is driven by the desire for timeless beauty, durability, and the eco-friendly appeal of natural stone in modern design. After all, who is the architect or designer that wouldn’t want to make something remarkable for their work? As we always say “Natural stone is a tool to be used by designer to shape their projects” ———————— Project by: Michela Ekstrom Article by: Ludovica Stevan Photos by: Carlo Oriente

In the world of design, how often do we seamlessly blend the old and the new? This luxurious mansion masterfully combines classical architecture and contemporary minimalism. Notice those pitched roofs with dual chimneys—a nod to traditional elegance—juxtaposed with those expansive rectangular windows that invite natural light and forge a strong connection to the outdoors. Having worked on a similar project recently, the challenge was maintaining that delicate balance between the past and present. Is this convergence of styles an emerging trend? According to a recent AIA survey, 70% of architects are exploring such hybrid designs for modern residences. To my fellow designers: How do you approach blending diverse architectural influences? Let's discuss the techniques and philosophies behind achieving this balance. Share your thoughts and experiences in the comments!

This time last year I was fortunate to go travelling in California (a state I’ve visited and loved for over 24 years). In all this time one area I hadn't had chance to visit was Palm Springs, the cooler temperature of the Winter made it possible (bearable) so I was able to visit and see first hand some of the amazing architecture of Richard Neutra and William Krisel The beauty of Palm Springs architecture lies in its harmonious integration with the surrounding desert landscape. The clean lines and minimalist design capture a sense of simplicity and elegance. Large glass windows frame stunning desert views, blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor spaces. Additionally, the amazing 1950s architecture, with its emphasis on functionality and form, creates a timeless aesthetic. The combination of thoughtful design, natural materials, and a connection to nature contributes to the overall allure and beauty. Can we incorporate this mid-century modern style in the UK? While it is strongly associated with Palm Springs and the American West, you can certainly incorporate elements. Consider adapting the principles of clean lines, open spaces, and a connection with nature to suit your local context and climate.

#LoveOfArchitecture: Le Corbusier’s Villa Savoye – A Manifesto of Modernism This week on #LoveOfArchitecture, we focus on Le Corbusier's Villa Savoye, a cornerstone of modern architectural design and a brilliant example of the International Style. Completed in 1931 in Poissy, France, Villa Savoye is celebrated for its implementation of Le Corbusier’s "Five Points of Architecture" that have significantly influenced the modernist movement. Villa Savoye is a synthesis of form and function, floating elegantly on pilotis, with a flat roof terrace reclaiming the landscape it sits upon, open floor plans, long horizontal windows, and a freely designed façade. Each element of the villa encapsulates the essence of Le Corbusier's vision for a new way of living that is closely integrated with its environment, emphasizing a clear, light-filled living space. As we reflect on Villa Savoye, we see not just a house, but a manifesto of Modernism, advocating for beauty and utility in equal measure. How do you see the influence of Le Corbusier’s principles in today's architectural designs? #LoveOfArchitecture #LeCorbusier #VillaSavoye #Modernism #ArchitecturalDesign #AlvaRoy #AlvaRoyArchitects Photo: Façade sud-ouest de la Villa Savoye, pilotis, ouvertures non vitrées © FLC (Fondation Le Corbusier) - ADAGP © Jean-Christophe Ballot / Centre des monuments nationaux

Every building has a story, and signs often play the crucial role of storyteller, helping to weave that narrative into the visitor's experience. Our recent work for the Kimpton Fitzroy London, a stunning 19th-century landmark in Bloomsbury, is a perfect example. Known for its fantastic architecture and renowned ornate terracotta exterior, this building has long been an iconic part of London’s heritage. But how do you design signs that respect such history while adding modern functionality? Our solution was to create a sign system that honored the building's character by choosing materials and styles that matched the detailed terracotta exterior. This helped the signs blend naturally with the architecture, adding to the experience without taking away from the building's beauty. Good signs do more than guide—they tell a story. PS: How are your signs contributing to your building’s story? #rivermeade #architecturalstorytelling #kimptonfitzroy #designharmony
