Many leaders subscribe to a straightforward formula for talent retention: ask employees what they desire and fulfill those wishes. However, this tactic often caters solely to immediate material concerns such as pay or flexibility. These offerings are easily replicated by competitors and typically yield minimal lasting impact on retention.
