TAtech North America: Not the Same-O, Same-O These are unprecedented time, but one thing is clear: the same-o, same-o approach to business development, product design and even operational procedures will not cut it in the last half of 2024 and the years beyond. That’s why TAtech North America & The World Job Board Forum has loaded its program with sessions that will challenge assumptions and color outside the lines. From the Opening Keynote by Andrew Flowers, Labor Economist at Appcast, and Toby Dayton, CEO of Linkup, on “Riding the Wave or Getting Drowned By It - Will Job Boards Be the Victim of the Labor Market's Success?” to the Closing Keynote by Allyn Bailey, Senior Director at SmartRecruiters, on “How to Stop Selling Faster Horses (yesterday's solution) to Employers” and every session in between, you’ll get new perspectives, innovative ideas and actionable insights. Or, to put it another way, this conference is definitely not going to give you the same-o, same-o. TAtech North America & The World Job Board Forum will be held at The International SPY Museum in Washington, D.C. on June 4-6. Whether your business is a job board or a talent technology company, this is one event you should not miss. Seating is limited at the Museum, however, so don’t delay. The STARS program through Opportunity@Work is an initiative I fully support, We need to begin to shift much of the labor market away from the antiquated degree/certification requirements model to a skills-based model. I had zero higher education in the field in which I ended up for decades (software technology). Were it not for companies and hiring managers that wanted me for my skills and self-education motivation, I would never have had the great corporate career I did. Other people should get similar opportunities. If you work in public sector, check out this webinar. "Our mission at Opportunity@Work is to rewire the U.S. labor market so that all individuals Skilled Through Alternative Routes (STARs) can work, learn, and earn to their full potential." https://lnkd.in/gbvGrpFj

#Alxweek2 what a week!☺️ I'm thrilled to share my amazing experience in Week 2 of the Alx Virtual Assistant course! ✨I gained a deeper understanding of what it means to be a Virtual Assistant and the essential skills required to excel in this role(soft skills, technical skills, tools). ✨I learned the importance of having a growth mindset, being proactive in communication, and maintaining confidentiality and discretion in my work. ✨Time management skills were also a game-changer for me! I discovered practical tools like Google Calendar and the Eisenhower Matrix (prioritization matrix) to boost my productivity. But what I cherished most was the peer-to-peer coaching session, where I connected with fellow learners and gained new perspectives. This week's lessons have not only equipped me with valuable skills but also instilled a sense of joy and fulfillment in my learning journey. I'm excited and looking forward to apply these skills and continue growing as a Virtual Assistant! Thanks, #Alx, for an incredible Week2 #AlxVirtualAssistant #VirtualAssistant #LearningJourney #GrowthMindset #opentowork #ALXVA

It’s pretty common, I think, to attend a conference and wish you could be in 2-3 places at once. At #JFFHorizons, I legitimately felt like I could have been in 4-5, maybe more, spots simultaneously and still not have soaked up all the content, meetups, and policy convenings I wanted to take in. That doesn't include the most valuable part of any conference: the scheduled and chance hallway and lobby conversations with old friends, partners, clients, and colleagues. This was my first time at Jobs for the Future (JFF)'s workforce and education summit. Because of travel issues — the IT outage was no joke for Delta — I didn’t get to experience the full breadth of content and meetings I was planning on. But I did pick up on, with fresh eyes and ears, some patterns and themes in the language that the social impact, workforce, and education leaders in attendance were using. Notable terms I heard often in my 1.5 days at the conference: 1️⃣ Skills-first (instead of skills-based). Which suggests that skills-focused hiring and training is the first but not only approach that companies, institutions, and communities should be considering. 2️⃣ Durable skills (also human skills and foundational skills). I didn’t hear one mention of soft skills. Other key terms and themes I heard a lot, through my lens working for a leading labor market analytics firm, Lightcast: ✅ Multiple pathways to connect talent to opportunity (see the skills-first note above) ✅ Outcomes, outcomes, outcomes ✅ Longitudinal data ✅ Changing skills and the future of work ✅ AI and digital literacy ✅ Career exploration Lastly, one of my highlights was attending the “No Dead Ends” policy breakfast that featured Maria Flynn interviewing Sen. Kaine and Rep. Smucker. Both were confident WIOA reauthorization could get done by the end of session. But more than this and other legislation nuggets they shared, I was struck by their passion for and roots in CTE, the skilled trades, and non-degree options — all of which will be critical to address the deepening labor deficits we’ll see in coming years. Great to connect with: Paul Fain Clare Bertrand, M.S.Ed Joel Simon Bill Hughes Nilda Blanco, MPA Efrem Bycer Faye Davis Heather McKay Laura Ward Matt Sigelman Ashley Wilhelm Earl Buford Matt Waltz Paula Nissen Layla O'Kane Papia Debroy Gina Rosen, PhD Sarah Miller Vallieres, PhD Kelli-Marie Ethan Pollack Derek Ozkal, MBA Sacha Litman Thankful for my colleagues who joined me in zipping up and down the escalators at the Marriott Marquis in DC: Stephen Lynch Caroline Landis Joshua LaFon Chris Kibarian.

Our final two brilliant nominees up for awards at tomorrows #GovPropAwards24 are our candidates for the Inclusivity and Capability Champion awards. To date, CHP have committed almost £400k to making accessibility improvements across all of our sites. We have installed hearing loops at reception desks, changed signage to help visitors better navigate around buildings, changed the flush mechanisms on accessible toilets to make them easier to use, changed the colour of the toilet seats to differentiate the seat from the toilet pan and installed auto doors to assist with access for wheelchair users. One prime example is changes made to install automatic doors at Barbara Castle Way and the following testimonial highlights the real impact of making changes to improve inclusivity across our buildings. CHP know that small changes create a more inclusive environment for all building users and make a real difference to the customer and staff experience. Our social value team will hope to win a very much deserved award. Our Learning and Development team recognised CHP’s previously fragmented approach to learning. Many employees lacked clear pathways for professional growth, and core skill development was inconsistent. Recognising this gap, the team designed the Thrive Programme, a comprehensive, inclusive framework that caters to individual learning needs across all career stages. The Thrive Programme offers a structured, three-tiered approach, ensuring everyone has an equal opportunity to thrive: Core: This pillar provides foundational training for all employees, regardless of role or tenure. It includes onboarding programmes, line manager training, and mandatory skills development. Additionally, a suite of eLearning courses and peer-led "bite-size" sessions address core competencies. Aspire: This tier caters to employees seeking career progression. Aspire offers support for professional development, qualifications, and memberships relevant to their roles. Clear guidance and manager training promote structured development conversations, and experiential learning opportunities like shadowing, project involvement, and matrix management further enhance skillsets. Rising Star: This accredited leadership programme is open to all employees who demonstrate ongoing commitment to development through documented performance reviews and learning activities. We, again, wish our teams the best of luck. Our team will be on the ground giving live updates tomorrow, so fingers crossed we can bring some good news! #NHSEstates #GovPropMonth

Welcome to July🗓️ Welcome to Q3✨ Welcome to the second half of the year🎉🎉 With every new beginning comes the urge to set and achieve new goals 📝 and so, just like we shared in a post last month on how to boost your personal productivity and hit your goals, don’t forget to; •Create a checklist and processes for all your activities. • Invest in learning applications. • Make data driven decisions ( avoid making on-the-spot-decisions driven by emotions). • Celebrate yourself for every milestone achieved. • Project yourself (have a brag sheet I.e milestones and achievements, of course with data to back it up). • Work on your personal branding. • Be intentional about growing the right network (be in the right room, unlearn - learn - relearn) • Be social network smart! From all of us @isensevilleconsult, happy new month!🎉 we hope you make the most out of July!✨💯 #hr #newmonth #july #isvc
