In 2008, Tiger Woods faced a massive challenge at the U.S. Open, not at Augusta but at Torrey Pines. His left knee was in terrible shape, and he'd already had three surgeries on it. His doctor had advised him not to play. But Tiger, being Tiger, refused to give up. Throughout the tournament, he played in excruciating pain, limping from hole to hole. The world watched in amazement as he battled not just other golfers but also his own physical agony. On the 18th hole, with victory hanging in the balance, Tiger made an incredible putt that forced a playoff. He then won the playoff, a true testament to his determination and willpower.
