US Cyber Command looking at how to utilize tactical on-the-ground systems https://lnkd.in/eTkxThiX JANUARY 16, 2024, DefenseScoop U.S. Cyber Command is getting more serious about leveraging capabilities the services are developing for on-the-ground, tactical operations to jam or disrupt enemy systems. Each of the services, in one way or another, has been developing forces and capabilities to conduct tactically focused, on-the-ground cyber and electronic warfare effects, known as radio frequency-enabled cyber.

Tactical RF-enabled cyber capabilities. As noted in several associated articles, we must consider the operators behind this next wave of "tactical cyber." This will take a uniquely assessed/selected, trained, and maintained operator.  The development of required tactical/expeditionary equipment will be critical to meet required missions and ensure we develop the most efficient "tool bag" of capabilities around the operator (and team).

A great article in Cyber Defense Review on Mission Thread Analysis. "Mission Thread Analysis (MTA) is a process to help build understanding and consensus between customers (operational force) and providers (network operators and defenders), offering an analytical framework where both sides detail their operational and technical requirements. MTA requires mission owners to analyze, prioritize, and depict a mission as a series of steps within a Mission Process Thread (MPT), including the data pathways or Mission Engineering Threads (MEngTs) required to complete the mission. Integrating MTA results with threat intelligence enables appropriate planning and coordination to apply the right capability to perform DCO in support of Army requirements."
