Storm Darragh is here, so please stay safe and follow these important tips: - Secure outdoor furniture, wheelie bins and Christmas decorations as the high winds continue throughout the day – they can become hazards, breaking windows or blocking roads. - If you must drive, watch out for debris on the road and slow down. - Allow extra time for your journey and keep a safe distance from the car ahead. - Never drive through floodwater – it's not worth the risk! - Be extra cautious on exposed roads, especially near the coast or on hilltops. - If conditions worsen, consider staying off the roads unless absolutely necessary. Your safety is the priority. More advice can be found at: https://lnkd.in/eTnWd6FA

As Storm Éowyn approaches with the potential to pose a serious danger to life, it is crucial for everyone to take proactive measures to ensure safety. At Wintech, we’re committed to supporting safe and secure environments for all. Here are some key recommendations to help storm-proof your buildings: 1️. Secure Loose Items: Check balconies and outdoor areas for loose items such as furniture, planters, or decorations. Secure or remove anything that could become a hazard in high winds. 2️. Check Windows and Doors: Ensure all windows and doors are properly closed and locked to prevent damage and keep out strong winds or rain. 3️. Inspect Vulnerable Areas: If possible, inspect any weak or exposed areas of your property to address potential risks before the storm hits. The Met Office amber weather warning for wind is in place for Northern Ireland, the north of Wales, the north of England and south of Scotland from 6am on Friday until 9pm. All parts of the UK have been issued with separate yellow weather warnings for wind on Friday as well. By taking these small but important steps, you can help protect your assets and buildings during this severe weather event. Stay prepared, stay safe.

Storm Eowyn is on its way - how can your property prepare? Strong winds, heavy rain, and flying debris can create significant risks for buildings. From structural strain to severe leaks, storm damage can escalate quickly if left unchecked. Here are some key areas to keep an eye on before and during the storm: • Secure loose items on Balconies, like pot plants or furniture that could be blown away or damaged. • High winds can loosen Cladding, Guttering & Roof Tiles - be cautious of falling debris. It may be worth telling residents to move their cars if your property has roof tiles. • Flying debris can lead to shattered glass. Spectrum can carry out emergency make-safe repairs while replacement glass panels are arranged. • The "downdraught effect" can accelerate winds near the base of tall buildings, creating risks for pedestrians and residents. Protecting Your Roof from Storm Damage Regular Inspections: Have your roof inspected before storm season to identify weak spots that could become damaged during heavy winds or rain. Trim Trees: Keep branches away from your roof to prevent them from falling and causing damage. Secure Loose Shingles: Make sure all shingles are tightly fastened to avoid them being blown away in high winds. Clean Gutters: Ensure your gutters are clear of debris to prevent water from backing up and causing leaks. Install Storm-Resistant Features: Consider adding storm-resistant features such as impact-resistant shingles or additional roof anchors. Reinforce Flashing: Make sure the flashing around chimneys, vents, and skylights is securely fastened to prevent water from seeping in during a storm. Need help preparing your roof for storm season?
