I’m so happy to read this! Finally a research based answer to this question: Do solar panels have an impact on the #environment in the end life stage? Besides debunking the myth, the article published in Nature underlines two things: 1. There is a need for holistic research for understanding impacts on the environment 2. #LCA - lifecycle analysis is an important tool to identify both environmental and social impacts across the value chain.

It's time to bust one of the most damaging myths about solar PV: that the technology has a major waste problem. A recent report in Nature shows convincingly that the cumulative waste generated by fossil fuel processes and other sources is orders of magnitude larger than solar PV waste. The authors also show how the pervasiveness of this myth has slowed solar PV deployment in places where it's most needed. We should of course, strive for circularity and minimize environmental impacts of all technologies. https://lnkd.in/eisXvERT #climatescience #renewableenergy #power #solar #solarpv #circularity #energydata #transition #energytransition #sustainability #netzero #fossilfuels #myths
