Last week we launched Cymru Women's Sport led by a powerful conversation with Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, facilitated by Sue Anstiss MBE. In the dynamic landscape of Welsh sports, the call for change is echoing louder than ever. It’s time to not only recognise the achievements of women but to actively pave the way for a more inclusive and diverse sporting community. At Cymru Women’s Sport, we are committing to change for women in Welsh sports at every level, emphasizing the need for collaboration, allyship, and representation. Committing to change starts with an open and robust conversation. We must engage in discussions that go beyond acknowledging the issues and dive deep into the root causes. By fostering an environment where everyone feels heard we can identify the challenges faced by women in Welsh sports and work collectively towards viable solutions. One of the key pillars of change is representation. Women in sports need to see themselves reflected at every level, from grassroots initiatives to professional leagues. The importance of diverse role models cannot be overstated, as they inspire the next generation and break down barriers that may exist. To truly drive change, we must address the underrepresentation of women on sports boards. Boards play a pivotal role in decision-making, policy formulation, and resource allocation. By ensuring that women have a seat at the table, we promote inclusivity and consider diverse perspectives in shaping the future of Welsh sports. Change cannot happen in isolation. Men must be active allies in the quest for gender equality in sports, understanding the challenges faced by women and actively working towards dismantling systemic barriers. In committing to change for women in Welsh sports at every level, we embark on a journey towards a more equitable and inclusive future. It is a collective effort that involves fostering robust conversations, gaining support and allyship, celebrating achievements, and ensuring that women are adequately represented in leadership positions. By taking these steps, we not only empower women in sports but also contribute to the overall growth and success of the sporting community. Let us stand together, committed to making a lasting impact on the future of women in Welsh sports. This is just the beginning … #CONNECT #CELEBRATE #ADVOCATE #sport #wales #womeninsport #femaleathletes #womeninleadership Emma Henwood - Jessica Williams - Kate Hannon - Beth Fisher - Leigh Robinson - Ria Burrage-Male

You may not think this day has anything to do with business, but IT DOES! Girls (and boys) who start and continue to participate and enjoy sports past the pre-teen years (when many girls drop off for a variety of reasons), develop into leaders in our communities. They tend to be organized, emphathetic, team players, problem solvers, community minded, goal setters....you get my point. PWHL you said it well below and we have proof of the impact you are having on many businesses across #Canada. You go girls! #womeninsport #womeninbusiness #womeninmedicine #womenchangemakers #womenentrepreneurs

I've been providing innovative recruitment and consultancy solutions to growing UK and International businesses of all sizes for more than 20 years
As a mum to two young female footballers and a staunch supporter of equality, diversity and inclusion throughout my professional and personal life, I cannot hide my shock at the decision of Thornaby FC to disband their entire women's section. I don't often get on my soapbox but I can't believe this is happening in 2024! Football, much like any industry, thrives on diversity and inclusiveness. It's disheartening to see decisions that set us back when we should be moving forward. Over the years, I've witnessed first-hand the astounding benefits diverse teams bring to any sector. With these 100 players now left without a club, we're not just depriving them of a team—we're withholding inspiration from young girls everywhere. The message this decision sends to young female footballers is that their male peers are somehow more important or more valuable to the club, and that's just unacceptable. However, amidst the disappointment, I draw optimism from the news of the sporting world rallying around the women at the club and board members stepping down. This reshuffle offers a glimmer of hope, suggesting that perhaps from the backlash, a more balanced and equitable future for the club can emerge. #EqualityInSport #DiversityandInclusion #Headhunting

Few things I love sports, I engage myself and enjoy sports coz its a continuous learning path. You learn more about yourself you develop habits you might not even notice such as: 1. You become goal oriented🎯 Avoiding distractions and keeping your head on the game, that's a discipline. 2. You take failures as fuels.🏋♀️ Loosing the game doesn't define you as a failure. It developed your patience. You just need to keep up and learn more from others. Go back to #1 focus on your goals. and, 3. You develop more trust to God👆 You focus on your goals, your not a failure by loosing the game and you trust God for that. You trust him that next time you'll gonna win the game with all those exerted efforts and preparations you've made its all for him. Whatever sports you choose, with him, nothing is impossible. We become more successful in life developing those good habits in our life.🏆🏆🏆 #HappySunday #Justdoit

1.3 million girls who used to love sport when young, disengage as teenagers. As we look towards #InternationalWomensDay on the 8th of March, we're sharing our #SolidarityStories on the theme of #InspiringInclusion. Today, we want to share a story close to our hearts: women and girls belong in sport. Naseem Allmomen likes to squeeze in a lunchtime run when she’s feeling lethargic at work; Sarah Jenkins finds that early morning spin classes put her in the right frame of mind for the rest of the day. Amy Wilde loves to leave the stress of the week in the pool with a Friday evening swim. The benefits of sport are endless. That’s why it’s disheartening to see that girls as young as 5 years old don’t feel they belong in sport and 1.3 million girls who used to love sport disengage as teenagers. Things have to change. Women in Sport is a charity close to our hearts, and they’re using research and insight to raise awareness of gender inequality in sport, pilot solutions and inspire change. Please see the comments where we have shared a link to Women in Sport's impact report, and tell us about your experience as a woman in sport - have you faced any challenges? #IWD2024 #InspireInclusion #WomenInSport

This article about philanthropy for women and girls’ sports is a great article about the long commitment toward change—and its importance, case for equity, and need. I love that the recommendations from these 50 years of impact are strategies that cross over to all causes led by and for women and girls’ rights, opportunity, advancement, and justice. And the successes of feminist funding translate to avenues that all of philanthropy should absorb and adopt. This echoes several of the strategies we distilled from the Mama Cash 40 years of impact study! “Tips for Funding Women’s and Girls’ Causes: 1. Start Small, Think Big: Even modest grants can have transformative impacts. 2. Fund for the Long Haul: Real change takes time — and requires sustained support. 3. Invest in Advocacy: Look beyond individual programs to tackle broader issues of equity and access. 4. Think Intersectionally: Some women and girls face compounded challenges and may need targeted support. 5. Cultivate Leadership: Backing girls and women today nurtures the next generation of advocates.” https://lnkd.in/gUd6k9Zq

🚦Male-to-Female Violence in SportsWorld: What We Know and What We Don't Know🚦 There was a vibrant surge in the 1980s and 1990s of social scientific investigation into hypermasculine male athletes and their abuse of women. However, this wave receded over the past two decades and eventually disappeared. Even highly seasoned violence against women scholars and activists has not been fleet of foot in dealing with the offline and online abusive acts committed by a sizeable portion of men who play the most popular and profitable sports. Buttressing this claim is the fact that DeKeseredy et al.’s (2023) Skating on Thin Ice: Professional Hockey, Rape Culture, and Violence Against Women is the first sociologically informed book on the specific relationship between sport and woman abuse published since 1998. It is thus time to go back and examine this topic again. The main objective, then, of this presentation is to, from a feminist perspective, what we currently know and don't know about male athletes's online and offline violence against women. Suggestions for further empirical and theoretical work are also featured in this piece 🎙️: Dr. Walter S. DeKeseredy 📍: Ron Kolbus Lakeside Centre 🗓️: February 20th & 21st 2024 🎟️Follow the link below for more info! ADDITIONAL LENGTHS X MIDDLESBROUGH F.C. WOMEN ⚽ Our ground-breaking collaboration with Middlesbrough F.C. Women champions women in sport who break the mould and shatter stereotypes, inspiring the next generation of girls in sport. Marketing Director, Carrie Tyler adds, “We all want to see female role models in sport and are disheartened to see the high stats of young women and girls dropping out of sport due to a lack of self-confidence. As a North-East business, partnering with Middlesbrough F.C. Women is a natural fit for us. These women, like so many others, go to additional lengths to progress their careers. We aim to drive awareness of these players as inspiration for a generation that still finds it challenging to see relatable figures in sports.” Together, we are refusing for women and girls to be sidelined. #MiddlesbroughWomensFootballClub #MFC #collaboration #partnership #womeninsport #womeninfootball #additionallengths #remicachet
