I recently changed my gym. “Who cares”, I hear you cry. Well, you should…and hear’s why. I could tell you all about the new equipment. How close it is to home (3 minutes walk!!) How it’s better to suited to my style of training. All fascinating 🧐 NOT. What really matters is how you face into it. As a coach, I speak to people day in and day out who fear change. They like their routine - their habits. But the truth is, if you never change…you NEVER grow. The world around you is constantly evolving. So, you have to evolve with it. “Stick or twist…the choice is yours”. I choose to change. And so should you. Embrace it and move on. What if we called it 'MENTAL FITNESS' instead of 'MENTAL HEALTH'... What if we called it 'MINDSET TRAINING' instead of 'THERAPY'? During the course of the #parisolympics I have been fascinated to hear the #mentalfitness techniques used by the athletes to stay calm under pressure, focused on their own experience, and excel beyond expectation... Here's a few of the tools 🛠 I have heard about from the GREATEST ATHLETES IN THE WORLD over the last few weeks... 👁 Visualization 🗣 Positive Self Talk 🎶 Hype-Music 👩⚕️ Therapy 🏆 Mind-Set Coaching 🌬 Deep Breathing 🧘♀️ Meditation 📖 Journaling 🥅 Goal Setting 👨👩👧👧 Support Systems including positive emotional release and practicing the art of letting go. So maybe if the GREATEST ATHLETES IN THE WORLD find #mentalfitness to be essential to their performance, then those of us in the #business and #leadership world might take notes on how to sustain and elevate our own performance levels with similar techniques... These athletes certainly don't see #mentalfitness as a crutch and neither should we. #mentalfitness techniques are an essential piece of the performance toolkit...maybe the rest of us could take note... Its been thrilling to watch in action... 🎉 🥇
