Will Wolverine and Deadpool ignite Marvel's comeback? Superheroes abound in Disney's Marvel franchise, but it urgently needs to be saved. Historically, one could count on superheroes like Spider-Man, Thor, Hulk, or the Avengers team to come through for the win. But in the wake of the much-discussed decline at the studio, Marvel is going through unusual times. Therefore, it's a good thing that Deadpool, played by Ryan Reynolds, has fully entered the fold with Hugh Jackman, an Australian, who may now reprise his legendary role as the late metal-clawed Wolverine, thanks to the creative delights of the Marvel multiverse (parallel universes of different realities). In addition to what I wrote in my last post, I'd like to add some thoughts in relation to ride development. It's probably already an industry standard practice to develop rides based on/around successful IP franchises - Pirates of the Caribbean, Tron, Star Wars, Marvel, Avatar, Harry Potter, Jurassic, Transformers, you name it. But I happened to wonder the following while recalling a ride concept I came up with for some sort of creative contest in WDI: Would it be worthwhile considering whether it makes sense to take one step further? That is to say, have a revolutional ride concept first and manage to work with writers/director to inplant it into IP franchises with appropriate theming.

While consumer habits evolve over time, the storytelling and characters continue to resonate across generations. Movies and merchandising are currently in vogue, as print media seems to be losing its appeal due to high production costs and a change in the format of how content is consumed. There are many uncertainties, such as whether film production will become too expensive in its current form, if Manga/Anime will capture more market share, the influence of politics and culture on existing storylines, and how AI-Web3 will impact creative compensation. Games Transmedia: Cyberpunk 2077 (game --> anime --> liveaction) GameInformer: "A Live-Action Cyberpunk Project Is In The Works" (Charles Harte)(Oct 05, 2023) "The Cyberpunk franchise has been on a winning streak lately. From the acclaimed anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners to the 2.0 update of 2077 and the release of Phantom Liberty, public perception of the series has largely turned around. Today, CD Projekt Red announced that they're taking the next step with the franchise – creating a live-action production. The game studio is partnering with Anonymous Content, a media company known for its work on shows like Mr. Robot and films like The Revenant. The project will be produced by Garrett Kemble, David Levine, Ryan Schwartz, Bard Dorros, and Charlie Scully, who will develop the project "in close collaboration with the Cyberpunk 2077 creative team." That said, this is still in the earliest stages; there's still no screenwriter attached to the project. There are still many questions in the air about the project. They've yet to announce (and perhaps, decide) whether it will be a film or a series. And while the project is "set in the world" of Cyberpunk 2077, there are a lot of approaches they could take. No actors have been attached to the project either, so whether Keanu Reeves or Idris Elba will show up is still up in the air. You can read the full press release here.
