I'll be honest, I haven't watched MTV on a regular basis in years. Once MTV and VH1 got out of music, there really wasn't much for me. I'm glad Paramount+ brought back behind the music. Can't tell you how many rainy days those marathons got me through. This does underscore what I've been saying, if these channels at least in terms of 24/7 feeds are slowly shutting down and the content is being moved to streaming, the movie channels are now available via apps directly, the regional sports networks are either going out of business or are looking to go into streaming, and as far as what I do, #Boxing has essentially become streaming exclusive as of the start of the year, I wonder what I would be paying for on my satellite dish at that point. I have had discussions with DIRECTV about this and right now, I would say that I'm 70% leaning towards transitioning to their streaming version at some point either this year or 2025, but I haven't made up my mind yet.
One thing I did notice yesterday when I logged in to my account to check and see if the baseball package that I've paid for, for the last 25 years, 21 though DirecTV, could be cancelled as I think I will be moving that to streaming this year, it wasn't an available option on my package. I haven't done anything yet, but seeing as it's almost February and I have been known to renew the package at times going back as early as December, maybe this means that MLB Extra Innings is being discontinued outright. As for me, MLB TV, the streaming version of the package has been included for almost a decade now so that's one reason why I'm going to go with that to save costs, but the only reason I haven't done it yet is I'm waiting on pricing to be released, want to make sure I can cancel the package through DirecTV if it's still available, and I recently learned since I recently added 5G home internet as a second connection in my home, there is a possibility that MLB TV might be an added perk for me. Hopefully, things are known before spring training so I can watch some of the games. Needless to say, things are changing though.
