Not all coaches are alike. CREDENTIALS MATTER. When hiring a coach, please be sure to look for their credentials. While not legally required to practice, being ICF-certified or board-certified through the NBHWC is the gold standard. It means that we took the time to ensure that we follow a proven methodology, have 50+ hours of coaching experience (prior to cert.), keep up with continuing education, and agree to follow high standards in our practice. My 14-year-old could hang a shingle and practice as a "coach". While he's an amazingly caring and insightful human, he doesn't have the training, practice hours, or knowledge to offer impactful coaching. I encourage you to book consultations (mine are free) with a few different coaches, we are not one size fits all. UKIHCA FULL MEMBER Coaching Practice Group Wed 28 February - 2.30-4.00pm Maintaining and developing your health coaching skills is fundamental to maintaining your professionalism and your confidence as a Health, Wellness and Wellbeing Coach. Advancing and developing mastery in the art and science of health coaching takes practice, feedback and reflection. This event does exactly what it says on the tin – it offers the opportunity to practice and develop your health coaching skills in a safe, supportive environment. What can you expect by joining a practice group? Each session gives you the opportunity to: • new people and grow your network of colleagues • interact with and learn new techniques from your peers • receive useful (and practice giving!) feedback • get coached! While the onus is on the learning for the coach, this is a great chance to work through some of your own goals and issues The format is relaxed and the focus is on exploring, experimenting with and developing your health coaching skills. Each participant is invited to bring to the group something they wish to work on as health coach. This could be anything related to your coaching, for example: • using a particular coaching model or practising skill e.g. listening skills/language skills/questioning skills • delivering information through a coaching approach • rapport building, confidence building and much more... The list is endless!
