🌿 At NBJ Summit, we’re committed to sustainability! This year, we're excited to introduce our eco-friendly initiatives: complimentary notebooks and hotel keycards made from bamboo. 🌱 Bamboo is not only renewable and biodegradable, but it's also a perfect example of how we can incorporate sustainable materials into everyday items. Thank you to Indena and SPINS for sponsoring these items. Sustainability in BEWI BEWI fully embraces the circular economy as the ultimate solution for a sustainable future. 🌟 For us, this means to utilise resources as optimally as possible, focusing on reducing our consumption, and to keep the value of products and materials in the loop as high as possible for as long as possible ✅ #bewicircular #bewigroup #circular #besustainable #sustainability #recyclingisfuture #circulareconomy #bettereveryday #sustainablefuture

🏝️Tilos = the 1st Zero Waste Island 🚮 A Circular Innovation Center at the core👇🏽 I love this impact story. A Greek enterpreneur had the idea to take a full island "Zero Waste". And he did it: @Athanasios Polychronopoulos. Not surprisingly: The project is fully circular ➡️ No public dust bins. ➡️ A Circular Innovation Center, which used to be the landfill. ➡️ The Center for Creative Upcycling creates products and jobs. ➡️ The concept includes tourists and their activities. 3 things that stand out for me: 1️⃣ Collaboration is key: The success of Tilos' zero waste initiative was made possible through the collaboration of all households, businesses, the municipality, and the initiating entrepreneur. By working together towards a common goal, they were able to achieve remarkable results in a short period of time. 2️⃣ Embracing change: Tilos' residents, including the elderly, enthusiastically embraced the zero waste lifestyle, proving that change is possible when a community is committed to a cause. The island's mayor, Maria Kamma-Aliferi, highlighted the profound impact the project has had on both the environment and the local community. 3️⃣ Adaptability: Despite the challenges of being a small island located far from the capital, Tilos' team found innovative solutions to collect, separate, and process waste streams. The island's Circular Innovation Center now serves as a model for other small Mediterranean islands looking to transition to a zero waste future. Let's bring that clarity and future vision everywhere. Love it! #circulareconomy #zerowaste Credit: WEF

A wonderful example on how to build sustainable practices at different levels. I always feel hope whenever I find these type of stories. However, this is just the beginning of the story… Thinking on further up-scaling will require an iterative process of: -Education: to maintain the new system, but also for improving practices. -Involvement: of policymakers, innovation tanks and people; to facilitate and incentivice “good” practices, while reducing disconfort and “bad” practices. -Secondary pathways: to reduce risk of relying on a single solution and to plan ahead of time, considering future scenarios. -Interdisciplinary cooperation: to produce robust solutions that guarantee energy security (if less waste is availble, do they have enough RE to keep their needs covered?), water quality, biodiversity, etc. -Optimizaing to minimums: to avoid dependance on linear economy to provide for raw materials. If people start repairing and reusing at home, will the so called “up-cycling unit” be sustained over time? What else would you say must be taken into account? #circularity #sustainabledevelopment #circularcities #zerowaste

In a conversation with iWrc President, Michael Maggio, the importance of waste pickers for the environment and the promotion of sustainability was recognized. Therefore, in this post, you will learn a little more about a social initiative aimed at financially supporting these professionals, valuing their work, and contributing to the development of more sustainable communities. Additionally, you will learn that buying recycled materials from waste pickers incentivizes circular economy and responsible use of natural resources. Together, we can make a difference and build a greener and more prosperous future for all! ♻️ Follow our page to learn more and check out more posts here at @iwrc.brazil! One more good example of circularity. I love the idea of also involving the visitors to achieve the goals. We need more examples like this. #circulareconomy #sustainability

First Kamikatsu in Japan, now Tilos in Greece, can the whole world become fully circular? The last worldwide circularity measurement is stuck at 7,2% as of January 2024 unfortunately but these towns show there is still hope! #circulareconomy #circularcities #sustainability
