You can purchase most anything your business needs, provided you have the financial resources. Anything except trust. A positive corporate culture requires trust at its core, and trust must be earned. In a corporate environment, leaders must demonstrate they trust the workforce before the workforce will consider trusting the leadership. See what it takes for leadership to establish trust by reading along with Black & Company: https://bit.ly/3uNNgok

It was truly an honor to participate in Latino Leaders Magazine C-Suite and Board Directors Forum last week, immersing myself in a community of inspiring individuals. During the event, I had the privilege of engaging in a fireside chat with @JorgeFerraez, the co-founder and publisher of Latino Leaders Magazine, where we delved into the crucial topic of leadership and drew insights from my 35-year journey at the helm of The Hollister Group. Something I’ve been thinking about since last week, is it’s essential to recognize our shared humanity amidst this chaotic world. We are all on a quest to evolve into the best version of ourselves. The cornerstone of this journey is self-awareness—an indispensable tool for identifying our blind spots and fostering continuous growth. For me, the pursuit of self-awareness is not a destination but an ongoing journey. It's a reminder that, left unchecked, we may inadvertently perpetuate patterns that no longer serve what we are up to in our lives. I truly feel self-awareness is one of the most critical leadership traits to work on as it can be a true game changer. In doing so, we contribute not only to our personal growth but also to a world that will undoubtedly benefit the growth of our families, communities, and organizations.

"The truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off." - Gloria Steinem It's an incontrovertible truth that contributions of Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) staff are often undervalued, leading to systemic inequities and underrepresentation. The undervaluation of BAME staff in the housing sector has far-reaching implications for both individuals and organisations. From a human perspective, it perpetuates feelings of marginalisation, exclusion, and disempowerment among BAME employees. From an organisational perspective the underutilisation of BAME talent stifles innovation, creativity, and effectiveness. By neglecting to leverage the diverse perspectives and experiences of BAME staff, housing organisations miss out on opportunities to better serve their communities and address complex challenges. I have been fortunate enough to be enrolled on the Leadership Now Programme run by GatenbySanderson, Rosie Gunn in partnership with UNIFY Network, Anthony Were. The Leadership Now Programme is committed to greater leadership diversity in the sector, through a blend of workshops, coaching and leadership profiling. The programme has been hugely instrumental in encouraging me to step outside of my comfort zone, shift mindset and build and strengthen my networks. Only through collective action and sustained commitment can the industry overcome systemic inequities and create a more equitable and inclusive future. I encourage anyone looking to take the next step in their leadership journey to check out the programme and see what it can offer you.

Happy International Women’s Day! I have the privledge to lead and take part in many Women’s Leadership groups at work including giving women’s leadership talks and mentoring. I strongly believe the value behind today. You never know the full impact you can have on a person. A couple quotes that resonate with me and I wanted to share: - “Authenticity is a collection of choices that we have to make every day. It’s about the choice to show up and be real. The choice to be honest. The choice to let our true selves be seen.” ― Brené Brown - “You can always tell who the strong women are. They are the ones you see building one another up instead of tearing each other down.” – Unknown - “If your actions create a legacy that inspires others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, then, you are an excellent leader.” – Dolly Parton - “I can’t think of any better representation of beauty than someone who is unafraid to be herself.” – Emma Stone - “Empowering those around you to be heard and valued makes the difference between a leader who simply instructs and one who inspires.” – Adena Friedman
