In honor of Black History Month, see just how much #Blacktravelers are driving the tourism industry. According to TravelPulse, "Black travelers have emerged this decade as a powerful and influential leisure segment." They are looking to explore black history and traditions and spending luxury dollars to do so. What does Black Economic Solidarity look like in practice? I'm still trying to figure it out! After translating for a meeting related to Afro Tourism in Colombia, I told a few colleagues that we should try to get folks together to share what we are learning in different spaces talking about Afro Tourism in Cali, Colombia. Thank you to folks like Martinique Lewis who created ABC Travel Greenbook App and many other practitioners who have created similar resources for the inspiration to make a simple directory highlighting fellow black businesses in travel and hospitality in Cali, Colombia. https://lnkd.in/eMWVg9Rt The outcome of this first meeting was a call to create a directory of black-owned businesses and touristic experiences, so I got on Notion and figured out how to make something that looked like a directory! We are still adding businesses & tourist experiences to this resource, but if you are in Cali for the COP 16, this is a resource you can use to support some black businesses while in the city! Two of the projects featured on this list are from Joseph Fallola Ibarguen Rivas with Muntu en America, and Andres Mauricio Diaz Vasquez with Viche Mina!
