Sometimes we don't recognize just how large the #publictransportation industry is and how it touches so many facets of life. Keep this in mind: 430,000 people employed and millions more supported in the private sector. The American Public Transportation Association provides great information on their site about how much of an impact it has on our economy. #themoreyouknow #masstransit #transportation #transit

Leadership from the Federal Transit Administration, White House, and American Public Transportation Association convened to address today's pressing issues impacting the transit industry and deployment of zero-emission vehicles. We are grateful for the White House staff who organized this event and made public transportation a priority for the Administration. APTA's Bus Manufacturing Task Force was assembled to recommend immediate actions to bolster competitiveness and stability in the U.S. bus manufacturing sector to help meet market demand and climate goals for zero-emission buses. Task Force members represented a diverse constituency of the public transportation industry, including several Cardinal clients who are working hard to decarbonize their transit fleets. Collie Greenwood of MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) and Jessica Mefford-Miller of Valley Metro RPTA were in attendance to share the perspective from their agencies. Since the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act became law, there has been a lot of positive momentum for public transportation. Continued partnership between the Federal government and the industry at-large is necessary to implement regulations that improve transit operations and deliver better service for communities around the country. American businesses are riding on continued investments in public transit. In fact, parts and supplies for public busses and trains are built by over 2,000 private sector businesses in 48 states. And nearly $42 billion in transit spending flows to the private sector each year. #PublicTransitImpact
