One of the most enjoyable things about being a lecturer is assisting students in writing and publishing their scientific work. The following three articles are the work of Kadek Wulan Ghaneswari, Indadzil Arsyil Putri Santoso, and Wafa Natasya Nurfadhillah. The first one feels extra special because we had to wait more than three years for it to be published. 1. https://lnkd.in/ecGGTMyS : Gas Pipeline Stress Analysis Affected by Landslide Induced Soil Deformation 2. https://lnkd.in/er9sjW6d : Landslide Susceptibility Classification of Musi Banyuasin Regency Using the Storie Index Method 3. https://lnkd.in/e8EKF4a9 : The Effect of Low Density Polyethylene Asphalt Additives on the Properties of Asphalt Concrete Wearing Course (AC-WC) Please download and enjoy reading. Next, we can discuss these topics.

Check out this great article that Tony Wahl and I just published in the Journal of Hydraulic Engineering on some multi-year long study of Hydraulic Jacking. This is the first of several papers on this topic we have coming from this research. https://lnkd.in/gx_6EFCE

A correction to the following paper: F. Zhang and M. Rosenfeld Longitudinal stress in buried pipelines near bends or end caps Journal of Pipeline Engineering, 2nd Quarter, June 2018, pp. 73-89. Page 79, 1st sentence of under “Results Comparison” [correct values are in bold] “Based on the pipe dimensions, buried depth, and soil properties listed in Table 1 and Table 2, we determined the soil stiffness in the lateral direction and axial direction as 𝑘 = 𝟑𝟕𝟎. 𝟐 lbs/in2 and 𝑘𝑎 = 𝟕𝟒𝟏. 𝟕 lbs/in2, respectively, …” The incorrect values for 𝑘 and 𝑘a as shown in the paper were carried over from an older draft. The authors apologize for not recognizing the error during proof reading before publication. The figures in the paper were based on calculation with the corrected values and thus the typos do not influence other parts or the conclusion of the paper.

I'm excited to share a recent experiment showcasing the formation of citrate precipitate! In the image, you can see the result of combining a bio-solution with iron sulfate, resulting in a muddy green precipitate. This mixture was filtered through paper in the laboratory to collect the final product. This research contributes to our understanding of bio-cement and carbonate precipitates, paving the way for innovative applications in civil engineering. #BioCement #CitratePrecipitate #CarbonatePrecipitates #SustainableEngineering #ResearchInnovation

https://lnkd.in/gxhAcCye Article Title: The natural bitumen additive Selenizza® SLN: A promising alternative for producing high-performance asphalt mixes Author(s): Edith Tartari* Journal: Journal of Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences Journal ISSN: 2455-488X Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to highlight the benefits of using natural bitumen in the context of global environmental change and increasing transportation demands in terms of traffic volume and loads. Despite the advantages of using these additives as binder modifiers to implement high modulus asphalt mixes characterized by high stiffness, high durability, superior resistance to permanent deformation, and good fatigue resistance, they remain still largely unknown and far from being effectively exploited. The paper displays for the first time a collection of scientific data based on previously published research works, enriched by new laboratory testing, whose results are not published yet. It aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of various aspects of the natural bitumen Selenizza® (extracted from the deposit located in southeast Albania) and the role that this natural additive plays in achieving the desired asphalt pavement performance. The dynamic rheological and Modulated Differential Scanning Calorimetry (MDSC) analysis proved that natural bitumens are fully compatible with straight-run bitumen and contribute to increasing the consistency, viscosity, and stability of natural bitumen-modified binders. The Rolling Thin-Film Oven Test (RTFOT), followed by Pressure Aging Vessel (PAV) aging analysis of road bitumen modified with Selenizza®, revealed that the resulting binders are resistant to aging and relatively efficient at low temperatures. #Naturalbitumen #Bitumenmodification #HighModulusAsphaltConcreteHMAC #Bitumenaging #CO2emission #Engineering #MechanicalEngineering #ElectricalEngineering #CivilEngineering #ChemicalEngineering #ComputerEngineering #SoftwareEngineering #AerospaceEngineering #BiomedicalEngineering #EnvironmentalEngineering #StructuralEngineering #IndustrialEngineering #MaterialsEngineering #SystemsEngineering #Robotics #Peertechz #PeertechzPublications #Nanotechnology #RenewableEnergy #EngineeringDesign #EngineeringManagement #ManufacturingEngineering #AutomotiveEngineering #TelecommunicationsEngineering #Mechatronics #EngineeringMechanics #ControlSystems

🔬 Enhancing PHA Production with Magnetic Fields Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) are suitable substitutes with significant environmental benefits. This study explores how magnetic fields can boost PHA production in a sequencing batch reactor (SBR). Key Findings: ⚙️ Optimized Production: Applying magnetic fields increased PHA production, with the best results observed at 16 mT, reaching 57.65% of the dry weight of sludge. 💡 Enhanced Monomer Content: The magnetic fields improved the percentage of PHV monomers, with 8 mT and 16 mT particularly effective. 🦠 Microbial Community Insights: Different magnetic field strengths led to notable changes in key functional bacteria. However, excessively strong magnetic fields were found to inhibit PHA synthesis. This research highlights the potential of magnetic fields to optimize biopolymer production, offering a promising direction for enhancing sustainable materials.
